Use the Byrd money on a OT

Branden Albert and Eugene Monroe both did not get tagged.

I'd take either over Pears. Throw in Veldheer as yet another option.

Certainly not out of line and cutting Pears saves around 3 Mil.

Wonder what their market value is ?

I would love Veldheer at RT. Huge upgrade over Pears

the top cap hit in 2014 is 12.3 mill (Joe Thomas), the 15th is 6.4 mill (David Stewart). I don't think any of those guys are top 10 OT's. I'd say between 5 or 6 and 8 mill per depending on who it is would seem logical. RT's are cheaper. The top RT is Anthony Davis at 7.5 mill.

Just a shot in the dark.

It doesn't make a tremendous amount of sense to chase a high-priced veteran LT and move him right. If we are going to drop 8 figures on a LT, play him at LT and either move Glenn inside or over to the other tackle spot. If wanted to go that route, I'd rather draft a tackle and develop him at RT.

If the Bills move Glenn we will have the same problem we have with Byrd, he will want to leave.

I am for drafting an OT. Much cheaper than any mediocre Vet.

Branden Albert was thought to possibly be on the move to RT or even G last year and he's 29.

There has been a lot of speculation about Branden Albert moving to guard or right tackle since he was given the franchise tag...

Eugene Monroe has played left tackle so far but hasn't been dominant. He may be better suited to RT.

Jared Veldheer also has been considered to make a move to RT.

All that said, if any of these guys can get starting LT money they will take it. So maybe a guy like Michael Oher at RT makes more sense.

These guys are free agents, and prized free agents at that. You'd first have to find a guy that was even willing to make the switch to RT and likely pay them LT rates anyway. At least with pick they don't have a choice in the matter for at least a few years.

Michael Oher is almost too perfect for our RT needs... But remember that Chris Hairston may still be in the equation for the Bills.

I really liked Hairston. No idea what happened to him. I'm interested to see what the final word is on him.

I'd like to see at least three olinemen brought in via free agency and the draft.

All those guys are going to be looking for LT type money and with the way the Bills operate they'd rather keep the cheap alternative at LT in Cordy Glenn, let him ride out his rookie contract and then let him leave for greener pastures. Don't expect the Byrd money to do much as hearing Whaley state he felt that DEs and CBs are more vital in Schwartz's D than S and that he's going to be looking at dust settling free agents we're in for an unsettling offseason. The only hope is somehow a guy like Jermichael Finley doesn't get much play and we can try and land him land in free agents like we tried to do with Fred Davis last offseason but as we saw then there's no guarantee we can get the bottom of the barrel UFAs either.

I dunno... But he's still listed on the roster and he's only 24. http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster.html
He's active on his twitter account as well... But he gives no clues what was/is wrong.

I would like to see Alex Mack brought in at center then Wood kicked to guard and one of the top Tackles signed to play RT.
