What Is The NFL's Biggest Problem?

    Refereeing?

Many NFL referees suck, and help dictate the outcomes of games that are often decided by inches.

    Concussions and lawsuits?

    'Don't wait, call 8.'

    Parity?

All NFL teams are created equal.

    Political correctness?

Bob Costas on his Sunday Night halftime high horse makes me want to turn the channel.

What is the NFL's numero uno problemo?

        Easy.

It is a QB league and if you don't have a QB you don't matter.

I don't know what the answer is, but it's sort of silly that one position matters so much.

No other sport is like that and maybe that is just the nature of the sport, but that doesn't meant I have to like it.

The nfl continues to suck more and more every year ( not just because the bills suck) it's the constant bs rule changes and the inability for referees to make consistent calls. There is to much rule interpretation. I used to be a passionate fan, I bought the ticket every year and even made travel plans around the bills schedule. Now I don't even watch the games unless they are on tv. Nfl kinda sucks now, imo

Greed. They charge too much for tickets, parking etc. and forget their core audience is Joe Lunchbox and not Corey Corporation.

On the field, far too many injuries and health legacy issues. Negative publicity.

Parity in the NFL is a myth.
"'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"

"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

The gameday experience loses to watching on your own couch. That's the biggest drawback to me, by far. Everything involved is outrageously expensive, it takes forever to get into or out of the stadium, TV timeouts drag everything to a halt, etc.

Yes and with DirectTV, you can go fishing in the morning , record the game, and not have to watch the unending stream of commercials.

Yup. Stadium experience is by far the NFL's biggest hurdle at the moment. It's too expensive, even if you have tons of money, it's just more fun watching the games with close friends at your place with fantasy stats at your finger tips. They need to find a way to give fans something at the stadium that they can't get at home besides long lines and $12 dollar beers. I get 25 wings for 12 bucks at my house, beats one beer. Oh and I have those too at home.

To me (and if we're just complaining), the two things I have the most problem with are the ridiculous amount of commercials and the refs, who take over and decide games a lot...terrible calls can ruin the whole game for me. And, of course, there is the cost of everything.

Also, I understand about player safety being an important thing, but you can't make an inherently violent sport a safe thing to play. They go too far trying to do that IMO.

I find other things annoying as well.

I can remember when a two minute drive to win a game was the most exciting 2 minutes in sports. Now? You pretty much know that barring a penalty or a turnover the team that needs to score will. In an effort to protect the QB a good QB is a nearly unstoppable force. That's boring.

Even field goals are near automatic. I would get rid of the no chuck after 5 yards rule and narrow the goal posts by a third. And cut the commercials so a game can be completed in 3 hours.

pass interference should not be a spot foul. 15 yards like college.
