If LB Dekoda Watson doesn't strike a deal with the Jags, he'll visit the Bills. But Jacksonville first and maybe last.

He's played SLB for the Bucs the last few years, looks like to be just a guy not sure if he's an improvement over Lawson but am okay if plan to get him for depth/ST but hope we aren't looking for him to start at WLB.

Maybe this guy is a Moats replacement and a ST'er.

Which is fine and dandy but I'd rather be making an effort to improve starting spots like WLB/MLB OT, OG, TE and/or WR and look at ST second. As for years we had one of the league's best ST and this past year it got worse but you know what? Our record didn't change much which proves that ST isn't as vital as we've been lead to believe.

Gotta have some filler guys too, I guess.

Yet the Bills will overspend on the filler guy (see Brad Smith) and wonder why the team doesn't made a significant improvement. Again I don't blame the lack of depth for only being 6-10 yet instead blame it on lack of quality starters specifically at the OG, WR, TE and WLB positions.

We have plenty of depth caliber players. Many of them are the starters on our team. We need quality starters and not more low level depth players that we end up paying 3 million a year for and many times end up starting. Only to repeat the entire process the following season or two.

Sure some of them players are nice to have but we already have too many of them types. You want your depth players to be cheap players on rookie contracts or veteran minimum type contracts so it saves more money to pay for your significant starters. Unfortunately we can't hit on them middle round draft picks to give us quality cheap depth so we pay 2-3 million a year for them.

Disagree. Who is our quality depth behind Kiko and Lawson? That isn't even a full stable of starters.

Watson is a fantastic ST's player and was fantastic for the Bucs when asked to play Sam last year. I picture him as someone who will be a special teams demon and fantastic backup that can start if need be. He would be an excellent addition.

But since we are likley losing Moats and have little to no depth at LB anyway I like the thought of a vet and ST'er. Takes pressure off the draft and UDFA's.

Watson has seen some playing time on defense during his first three seasons. He started one game in 2010 and two more in 2011 during times that Black was battling injuries. He has at times been used as an edge rusher, playing up on the line of scrimmage in three-down-linemen packages. Over his first three seasons he has pitched in with 39 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, six quarterback pressures, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown in 2011.

Also during that time, only Hayward has had more special teams tackles for the Buccaneers than Watson (36 to 32). No matter what happens in the competition for the starting strongside job, Watson seems almost certain to maintain a significant role in kick coverage. This year, however, his "elite" skills could help the Buccaneers in more ways than one.

For what it's worth the Bucs have been a team that been rumored to take Mack or Barr with pick 7 of the draft so I don't think Watson is anything more than a depth guy in the league. Yet who knows I thought the same of Stevie after his first two years in the league.

I'm talking about the team in general. This team needs an infusion of talent and especially at the LB position. We don't need anymore 2-3 million dollar backups.

We have 2-3 mill backups?

We need an infusion of talent but it should be rookies pushing quality vets at both backup and starting positions. Not starting or inking in rookies because we don't have anyone else.

Dekoda was a good player in college and has got better each year in the NFL. Not a starting LB IMO but could be a nice role player.
