All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
1. What is the Bills biggest need?
2. Can Chandler be an efficient starting TE?
3. What Free Agent do you want the Bills to bring in?
4. Have the Bills improved this week?
5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us?
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
3. What Free Agent do you want the Bills to bring in?
Don't care.
4. Have the Bills improved this week?
O line.
5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us?
A lot. It not only hurts that we lose a good player, but it's just another player who walks because he doesn't get paid here. At some point, this organization has to begin to keep their nucleus in tact, if want to get out of the perpetual rebuilding mode.
1. What is the Bills biggest need? O-line - if we are banking on EJ (which we are), we need to give him time.
2. Can Chandler be an efficient starting TE? No - too many mistakes
3. What Free Agent do you want the Bills to bring in? Spikes
4. Have the Bills improved this week? No
5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us? Not too much - I think Searcy/Duke can step in, or a rookie, and not have a noticeable dropoff.

1. Toss- up: LB and WR.
2. No. He's the bare minimum. Really wish we had upgraded this position.
3. Brandon Spikes
4. No- with the loss of Byrd they regressed. The additions were depth or lateral moves.
5. On the field, significantly. Off the field, even worse. It means the perpetual rebuilding cycle continues. And I'm not even putting this on Whaley because of that Tim Graham article. The GM is irrelevant because the same puppet masters are pulling his strings.
1. WR -- a true offensive play maker.
2. Probably not. He's slow and drops the ball too much.
3. Ryan Clark
4. No.
5. Not a ton, because nothing will matter until we have a legit QB.

1. LB.
2. Yes; should be targeted more.
3. Mike Vick.
4. No.
5. A little, but not as much as people think. We sucked every year the guy was here, so there isn't a lot further down to go.
"Miami played pretty damn good today and still got their ass kicked."

1. OL, still
2. No
3. Michael Oher or Kenny Britt
4. I don't think so
5. In a Cover 2 based coverage scheme? A lot more than if we were still in Pettine's defense.
COMING SOON...

1. MLB
2. Yes, he proved that last year
3. Brandon Spikes & James Jones
4. Improvement to depth, not starters
5. If we go with Duke Williams, it does.
1) Lombardi Trophy.
2) Yes. He is a good Tight End, I dont understand the hate.
3) Steve Smith
4) Addition is always a plus.
5) A football player is a football player. Searcy has been waiting and he will be fine.

Oline
Efficient? Yes. Just avoid him and Stevie at crunch time.
Spikes.
Overall I would say yes. Signing Spikes could improve that, losing Carrington could hurt a little bit.
I don't think the difference will be noticeable.

1. Quarterback.
2. Great platoon guy. Should not be the unabashed starter.
3. Charles Woodson. I'd love to see him bridge the gap as a rotation guy on passing downs on a 2 year deal.
4. No. That's not to say this period won't improve the team combined with the draft class, but in it's own Graham, Rivers, and Williams are not guys that are going to put the team over the top or change the culture.
5. It hurts, but Williams was good last year and Gilmore needs to make a leap. If the front seven can stop the run this year, the secondary will be ok. Justin Rogers was a huge problem early in the season, Leonhard trailed off at the end. Searcy, Duke and another addition should be able to rotate and be passable. Byrd is a great player, with great instincts. If the front 7 gets pressure like last ear they will force a bunch of turnovers again and it won't be a glaring hole.

5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us?
1. QB
2. yes, with a QB
3. Doesn't matter without a QB.
4. No, still blow at QB.
5. Not at all.
1. What is the Bills biggest need? Offensive line. This still needs to be a rushing based offense until EJ develops or gets replaced, but a dominant OL helps out every facet.
2. Can Chandler be an efficient starting TE? He's passable. Not a strength but not a weakness.
3. What Free Agent do you want the Bills to bring in? Henry Melton would be interesting. Schwartz should know him from their time in the NFC North.
4. Have the Bills improved this week? On balance, no.
5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us? I think significantly. We're now moving Aaron Williams to yet another position, and have three midrounders with extremely limited experience fighting over the remaining spot.
1. OL. If you want to ruin a young QB with potential, give him a crappy OL and have him running for his life before getting his feet set when he drops back.
2. Chandler is limited in the amount of production he can give you. Efficient, I guess. But I would think he would put up average to below average numbers compared to other starting TEs.
3. I wouldn't mind at least one more starting OL. I think Williams might be better than what we have right now at guard, but that's like winning the 100m high hurdles against a group of one legged midgets.
4. The Bills got better depth wise. I like the Graham signing to hopefully put Brooks and Robey to what they should be, 4th and 5th CBs. Spikes is a good player, but I still want Kiko in there vs. 3 and 4 WR sets. Williams is versatile but would only win the opening day starter role at G due to injury or default at this point. The Bills lost their best DB by a long shot and that is now another hole to fill. They have hit so few times the past 10 years on first and second round picks so that really hurts.
1. What is the Bills biggest need? Owner, GM, HC, QB, a legit #1 receiver, TE, G, LB, DB
2. Can Chandler be an efficient starting TE? See number one
3. What Free Agent do you want the Bills to bring in? Atilla the Hun
4. Have the Bills improved this week? Nope
5. How much does losing Byrd hurt us? Keep turning strengths into weaknesses and we'll have that first over all pick locked up in a year or two.
