Hmmmm...this may take RB completely out of the equation come draft time, and I was hoping they'd go for one in the mid-rounds.

He sounds like the opposite of Tashard. This guy is who we need behind Freddy and CJ.

I was hoping to draft a back as well, and it is still quite possible. Dixon can play some fullback - Summers place on the team is no sure thing.

More competition, I can't complain.

Don't see the point. We have Frank Summers they never use in short yardage. But Summers has to block ! No he doesn't, give Lee Smith a running backs number and call him a fullback and you get beef for your buck on short yardage, or just sign a developmental guard or tackle and call him a fullback while he learns to block. Use Kyle Williams, Dareus or Branch as a short yardage bruiser.

Don't see the point. Whatever, not like he'll break the bank.

Yeah, I guess I don't really understand this because Summers sort of runs, catches and blocks well when they use him.

I agree. I think Summers was underused last year, especially with CJ not being healthy all year.

I doubt a RB will be drafted at all & I am fine with that. Use that pick on a position of need or for special teams.

I don't know how the 49ers used him, but if he can help the goal line offense, he'll be a welcomed addition. Jackson was having a hard time on the goal line last season, but that could of been because of the play design, I hate seeing a tight formation, then trying to run it up the gut, spread it out a little.

I agree, it never made sense to me to pack everyone in as tight as possible, than run up the middle.
How many times did that fail last season?

Sometime Saturday, during Rounds 4-7.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Dixon. He's big enough to play FB. Summers was on the outs last year. Dixon is a solid ST'er.

It's possible they keep 2 FB's but not likely. I don't think anyone really does that anymore.

So the draft out to tell us what they plan to do with Dixon. If they take a Andre Williams for example, I think Dixon will be the starting FB or we may carry 2 FB's.
