Philly.com projects zero compensatory picks for Levitre and Reinhart

Thanks to Miguel@PatsCap.com for pointing out that the new CBA limits the number of compensatory picks to the number of teams in the league (currently 32). As a result Buffalo and Oakland will not receive "net value" picks.

    Buffalo
    Lost: Levitre ($7.8m), Rinehart ($1.75m)
    Signed: Lawson ($3m), Branch ($3m)
    Awesome.

Some teams know how to work the NFL FA system and still get compensatory picks. The Bills are clueless.

New CBA? The number of comp picks has always equaled an additional rd or 32 picks.......nothing new there

If you draft well enough, it winds up working out. Then you don't need to sign FA's and whatever players leave can be replaced by draftees. Which means more compensatory picks.

Our Byrd flew away for nothing as well, there's planning for ya 14 years a running.

Geez...one would think that considering how badly our offense crashed and burned, and Tennessee's meteorically shot to the top, one would think losing the very best player in the entire league at that position would garner at least two or three.

...which lets clubs get savings due to the rookie cap, which in turn allows them to be in a relatively stronger position regarding their own FAs.

Can't get a 2nd, but you are right it likely would have been a 3rd. However, they offset losing LeVitre by signing FA of their own, and it is the net loss of qualified FA that count. It was cancelled out when they signed their own FA.

They did the same thing this year, signing FA to offset the loss of Byrd.

Two or three picks, not second or third round.

                            Baltimore gets a 3rd,4th and 5th. Wow.

Pats get a 4th, to reward the tears of Bob Kraft.

We will get nothing for bryd unless people sign 5 bills UFAs which we don't have.

Oh well if we make playoffs then who cares.
