    That sucks.
A bounce back year for Shaub would have made us Playoff contenders.
I guess we are destined for 6-10.

Trading for Schaub means that Oakland takes over his contract, and they owe him $11 million this year. That will escalate over the next couple of years as well, but I think they can release him without penalty.

I used to like Schaub better than I do now. I just don't see a future with him anymore. We already have our prospect, who hasn't failed enough to not be our prospect yet...or so the way of thinking probably goes.

The Raiders are going to negotiate a new contract with Schaub. No way they pay him $11M this year. He knows that.

Man if they took his $11 M salary, they're nuts. I know they have room but may this isn't even reality based on current market, he's a has been at best.

They have plenty of cap room, and $11M is pretty reasonable money for a starting QB. Top QBs are making $20M+ now, and backups are making $5M. They should see if Schaub can play as well as he did before last year, if so he will be well worth the money. If not, they release him without any dead money. I actually think it is a pretty smart move for them, they have added a lot of talent this offseason.

I would have liked Schaub here, and i would have been okay with giving HOU our finest soda machine in the locker room for him.

There's a fine line between desperate and stupid....but the Raiders seem to always find a way to meld the two.

Dennis Allen names Matt Schaub the starter.

yeah whytf wouldnt he be the starter. shaub has been very good for long stretches of his career. the five years previous to last year he averaged a near spectacular qb rating of 94

im pretty surprised the texans gave up on him so easily. he will be 33 when the season starts, which is too young for a pocket qb to hit the wall. unless something has gone seriously wrong in his life, it seems more likely he more hes gonna rebound than flounder. the raiders are probably going to come out looking smart here

I wonder if OAK will still consider a QB with their #5 pick.

He completely lost the fans. It was so bad they were showing up at his house to bad mouth him after losses. There was no way he was going to be the full time starter again in that city, and that contract made him hard to trade.

I think it's a good move for Oakland. Especially, if they use him to develop a QB on the bench.
