They're missing the playoffs for the first time in 7 years.
This doesn't surprise me at all. I've contended for a LONG time that they benefited from being in a weak division. Guess what happens? They no longer get to beat up on Carolina, Florida, Tampa Bay and Winnipeg/Atlanta. Suddenly, they get more games against Pittsburgh, NYR, Philly and fewer games against those scrubs, and they are playing golf in April like they should be.
Ovechkin: shockingly good 50 goals. Shockingly bad -34. That means he was on the ice for 84 goals. EIGHTY FOUR.
By contrast, the worst I could find on the Sabres was Hodgson, who was only on the ice for 45 goals. This is on a team with the worst +/- in the league and it's nowhere near as bad as Ovechkin.
Sure, Washington lacks defensemen, but this just wreaks of an utter lack of effort.
The Nationals are 7-2 and racking up runs, and RGIII will be healthy for the Skins this year. Watch the Crapitals bandwagon come crashing back to earth.
