    Pick-A-Day: 1. Houston Texans

    It's baaaaaaaaaaack!

We are officially 24 days out from the NFL Draft and we have been doing this pick a day game at the Zone for...I honestly don't know how long. Anyways its pretty simple, every day I post a new thread asking you to select the player for the team whose turn it is. Trades don't count and you can only select from the players remaining. At the end of the day (or next morning) I'll tally the votes and we'll move on to the next team.

Now there are 32 picks and only 24 days so we'll have to get a little creative but I think we'll be ok.

Also some picks quickly become unanimous, so when a thread has 10 consecutive responses with one player, we'll immediately move on to the next pick instead of wasting an entire day waiting for me to move on.

Without any other questions, we are on our way!

Pretty obvious it'll be Clowney. (Unless they trade us their pick so we can get him)

Clowney. No question the best player of the draft.

I get the senses though that the Bills might be trading with the Texans, not for the 1st overall pick, but might be about the 9th overall pick. You can bet the Texans would love to come out this draft with Clowney and a top tier ranked QB. If when the Bills' turn come around and a (might be the only one left) QB on their top tier board is still around, things could be very interesting ...

No doubt the Texans would have to give up their 2nd, next year's 1st, and something else. It would make sense from their perspective since they are not that bad to the core like a typical #1 overall pick team -- in fact with Fitz, I don't think they pick in top 5 next year. But for a team to drop picking spots from #9 to #33 is very uncommon unless you are Belichick or Jerry Jones who are not worried about being fired if not producing results in the short term. The Bills however, filled all their immediate needs in FA, save for Right Tackle where Pears is still under contract. They could easily find one with the 33rd pick which could fit well in the value chart.

Who knows. But looks like the Bills had conversation with the Texans so the parameters might be set. On draft day if a can't-miss player falls to their lap, they will make the pick; otherwise, they may very well ask Houston if they have changed their mind ...
