I Like Khalil Mack More Than Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney had 13 sacks in 2012.

3 in 2013.

The, "He was playing to not get hurt," is a bad excuse that makes me question Clowney's character as a football player.

Mack had 10.5 sacks in 2013.

Total sacks?

Khalil Mack had 28.5 sacks in 4 years, Clowney had 24 sacks in 3 years. That's a wash.

But career tackles? It's not even close.

Mack 68, 65, 94, and 100 tackles in his college career for a total of 327.

Clowney 36, 54, 40 in his college career for a total of 130.

Not having an official team owner also presents a unique opportunity for Doug Whaley to make a huge splash and take a chance he might not be able to make if Ralph were still alive.

What would you do? Protect the quarterback first, or trade up to draft a dominant defensive player like Khalil Mack?

If Mack is still on the board at 5, and the Bills know they can get a very good right tackle in the second or third round, would you give Oakland a buzz?

I understand that stats can be manipulated, but you can't discount the entire body of production throughout each player's college career.

Linebackers in general often have more tackles than defensive ends, but great defensive ends always have more tackles than linebackers.

Clowney was double and tripple teamed, so what? Same thing happened to Bruce.

I don't think Clowney is going to be great.

Mack is a 3-4 LB.

He can play in any base defense and you can move him around, but you're right. His skills would be maximized as a 3-4 OLB.

He is an OLB.

Mack as the "Sam", Spikes in the Middle, and Alonso at weak side linebacker.

I don't think Schwartz is married to the 4-3 as much as people think. If anything, they will more than likely run a 3-4 at least 40% of the time.

Dareus and both Williams have played in a 3-4 and 4-3.

NFL defenses are much more complex these days than a simple 4-3 or 3-4 alignment.

All I can say is he has dominated at his position & besides over-running some plays, he'd be a handful on nearly every play. Remember that Bruce Smith factor that you always had to account for his whereabouts ? When teams do that for JC, who guards Mario Williams, who is a monster in his own a right ? How about Dareus, who stops him ?? Kyle Williams is a pro-bowler, so I hope you see where I'm going with this, we'd have the best not second best D-line in the NFL.

Mack went on to praise his coaches.

Clowney never gave praise to his teammates, and never mentioned his coaches.

He never smiled either.

I think Mack has just as much if not more ability to play in the NFL, and a hell of a lot more charisma.
