Reading the article, I see his point about controlling plays. I don't know how much freedom the coaching staff gave him last year. I had to believe that coming from a half field read college background, he's not allowed (and probably prudent) to do a great deal
A big part of that he didn't mention, is making the right read and decision. You can make the troop as tight as one and they follow your order down to the tee. But if you routinely read the defense wrong or not make right decisions, you are still not going to be successful.
I'm glad EJ seems to put his mind in right place in the off season and has the aspiration to be great (not just words). It appears to me though he's NOT one of those improvisers like Wilson, RGIII, etc. who has the instincts to maximize their physical abilities. He's success would come in a more traditional way like Brady, Luck type. We'll see what kind of improvement he can make in the cerebral area this year.
