Schefter: Houston Locked in at #1

He tweeted this 10 minutes ago.

Houston is now locked in on its player and is not expecting a trade, per sources. Texans happy to sit at 1 and take player it wants.

I don't believe they are allowed to sign the first pick ahead of the draft any more. That had happened previously, if I recall correctly.
"'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"

"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

That's what I was thinking, it could be posturing.

I hope they miss harder than any other team has ever missed. Bill Obrien is an *******.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
          It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

They locked themselves in by putting to high a price on the pick. Seriously, three first round picks to move up? I still think it could come down to waiting til the time of the pick. They have a lot of needs and can use the extra picks.

Everything at this point is a smokescreen or posturing... I'll believe that they've made a pick when the card is turned in, not before. Same with the other 31 picks tonight.

Maybe they'll drop one of the future picks and hope that a sap lines up.

I doubt it, the Texans to me are one of the better run franchises in the NFL. I think they've been struggling with taking Clowney as he really doesn't fit their defense but he's such a great talent it's hard to pass him up. Yet think they've finally come to realize you don't pass on elite talents when one falls to you (see when they took Mario Williams instead of the popular pick Bush). That said they could always just play it safe and take Mack because he fits their scheme better and has a lesser chance at busting.

Well, that's what Kevin Costner gave to move up from #7 to #1 in "Draft Day," so... :)

I do too, but that would be my favorite scenario.

They are just Using the press hoping get more in a trade. It's hilarious how teams feed these little dweebs false info and they go running for the cameras like they have a big scoop!
