Peter King Article on Whaley and the Watkins Pick

Inspired by his mentor Bill Nunn, who died two days earlier, Bills GM Doug Whaley pulled off the biggest trade of the 2014 NFL draft to select wideout Sammy Watkins. The move announced to the rest of the league, and to long-suffering fans: Buffalo is tired of losing

    Good read.

Great article. Now we need to work on backup QB and tackle.

Some editing/simple addition needed. Steelers scout Nunn was 46 in 1995 when mentoring Whaley and died Tuesday at age 89 ? Plus King mentioned Graham and forgot about Goodwin. So his finger is not on the pulse of the Bills. Knows little about us but not winning comes with a price. I understand he's being positive about the move.

Anyhow, if the Pats did this, there would be miles of media offering a BJ.

no, i think it meant he was their scout for 46 years, not that he was 46 years old

That's how I read it too, but I did have to read it twice.

I agree, he meant 46 years as a scout for the Steelers.

Still Night train was right about him not really knowing the Bills.

I would love to see TJ Graham step up, but I expect much more out of Goodwin than Graham.

And the Bills will gain nothing if they cut Stevie this year with his cap hit.

He also failed to mention the fact that we Mike Williams at WR too.

                So Whaley is black?

Translation of Whaley's thinking: If I don't do something that gets this team to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs, both the other Doug & I are so gone when the new owner takes over; and if that's the case, I won't have to worry about next year's draft choices.
