Aaron Maybin retired from the CFL today.

No major sources are covering it because he sucks.

Is this meant to be that sappy "closure" thing that has been chatted about for a couple of decades? :mbb:

If by closure you mean every door was shut on his face than yes.

He's from this area. I'll probably buy a hot dog from him at Nationals Park later this summer.

Nah, he'll be on a reality show called Maybe Maybin about how he could have been an nfl player but he was too worried about his rap songs.

The reality show will need to be on Public Access in WNY, because nobody nationally will have any clue who the **** Aaron "Mayhem" Maybin is

And drafted before the salary cap. I bet he has a pile for life.

If no one wants you on their team, is that really retirement?

I'd like to announce my retirement from the NFL, NBA, and my presidential run then.

Think so? He got over 14m from the Bills. He might own the hot dog company.

Are we pretending like Aaron Maybin made wise investments to save for his future?

He made more money than most of us will see in a lifetime yet never made a contribution or done so little to earn it.

Also, looking back at the 2009 nfl draft and seeing who was drafted after Maybin makes my stomach upset.

The Bills only passed on guys like Orakpo, Clay Matthews, Harvin...who would want those guys on the team?

I'll never get the irrational hate for players who went bust.

Wish him the best of luck, he's a hell of an artist, so he's likely got a second career set up.

Agreed.. . If player x is scouted, drafted and paid by the organization, then good for the player, but shame on the team for making it happen

i think part of it is not only the great talent that our idiotic gm and coach passed over, but also the long hold out before he had even gotten on the field. at least with me anyway

Almost 30 posts in and nobody has mentioned that he will be eligible for the Hall of Fame in five years? You people are slipping...

Perry Tuttle too!

Tuttle lives in the area of Charlotte I live. His kids go to the same school as mine. I see him around from time to time at stores. Never talked to the guy. He wrote a book a couple years ago. Not sure what he does for a living though.

What does that have to do with anything? When he was drafted a number of Top 15 picks held out annually. Hell if anything its furthered underlined here why Maybin should of held out. His career was very short but he got his money. Good for him.

I still go with Mike Williams, though its quite close.

I think Maybin exceeded Williams as biggest bust ever. Williams, believe it or not, actually had more longevity and never had to settle for the CFL.

The list of Bills 1st round busts is long and distinguished. It goes back way before Maybin and Flowers:

1960-Richie Lucas
1966-Mike Dennis
1970-Al Cowlings
1972-Walt Patulski
1975-Tom Ruud
1977-Phil Dokes
1979-Tom Cousineau
1981-Booker Moore
1982-Perry Tuttle
1983-Tony Hunter
1990-JD Williams
2000-Eric Flowers
2002-Mike Williams
2009-Aaron Maybin

And that list isn't even including the guys who contributed, but flubbed plays like Don Beebe and Ronnie Harmon.

Didn't the pick we got from Cleveland for Cousineau used for Jim Kelly?

Maybin was way worse. He literally did nothing with the Bills. at least Williams started and had a few good games.

Given the state of the OL I'm not sure Williams either starting is any kind of an actual accomplishment.
