Success is only thing that will satisfy Kouandjio’s hunger

You would think that Kouandjio (pronounced KWAN-joe), given his background, would have been thrilled after the Bills selected him in the second round. After all, he traveled a long way in a short amount of time and realized a dream. In fact, he was furious. He didn’t crack a smile when his name was announced with the 44th pick overall. Kouandjio wasn’t upset because Buffalo took him, although that was reasonable. He was angry because all 32 teams ignored him in the first round, and 11 more followed in the second.

He understood concerns about his knee, which required surgery. But he was a two-year starter for a top program, a first-team All-American last season, an Outland Trophy semifinalist and a winner. For the first time in his career, he felt disrespected.

The Bills see him as a right tackle. He already has impressed the front office with his attitude and work ethic. He has the size and strength to contribute in the NFL. They believe he has first-round talent and will help in the running and passing games if he can stay healthy. Kouandjio vowed to show they made the right decision.

    Hungry?

He’s no longer hungry. He’s hungry and angry, which is even better.

“It sparked a fire inside of me that I hadn’t felt in years,” Kouandjio said. “It’s that fire, that will to push myself past my boundaries, to do anything, just to prove people wrong.”

We could use a tackle with a little fire in his belly.

I like this pick a whole lot.

A guard in the 3rd would have made our OL so much better.

We got a good ball player in Cyril Richardson. I wouldn't be so dismissive that we didn't take a G in the third, seeing how a nice one fell to us in the fifth.

Plus, I think it was justified to take an MLB in that slot. We only have Brandon Spikes locked in for one year. Preston Brown gives us a contingency plan.

I can throw a rock from my front porch and hit DeMatha. It's a very good school and they get lots of athletes from the DC area. You can't be an idiot and go there. You have to do the academic work, too. He's no dummy.

The guard they drafted in the 5th was projected by most experts to have gone in the 2nd:

Interesting this guy lists BOTH the tackle and guard that Whaley took as the "BIGGEST BUST POTENTIAL" at their given positions in the whole draft. See this:

The 2014 NFL draft is finally here. Now, who are the best players available in this loaded class? This year's draft is unique in that 102 underclassmen have added to an already talented group of senior players...

is that Whaley being smart and aggressive or slow and stupid?

                  High risk, high reward.

I like that mentality after the first round.

Maybe Cyrus Kouandjio is high risk, high reward as a 2nd rounder.

But I'd say Cyril Richardson is low risk, high reward as a 5th rounder.

                    It's a trifling distinction, I know, but there's a difference.

My only concern with Kwanjo is his awkward running motion. He has this flat footed, rumbling, kind of stomping motion when he plays that looks like it lends itself to injuries. Could be wrong, of course, but I don't doubt his high ceiling.

The 31 other clubs must be dumber than BUF, then.

Those 31 other teams relied on their medical staff buffalo is definitely lacking. Cyrus never passed a physical.

LMAO at Buffalo lacking a medical staff.

Kevin Everett is alive today because of the Bills medical staff.
