View Full Version : New Toronto franchise could benefit the Buffalo Bills, maybe share a stadium in NF

If the NFL adds a franchise in Toronto (London as well ?) to get the international exposure they so desire, the Toronto franchise could benefit the Buffalo Bills. Splitting the cost of an NFL stadium would make good business sense & we could place it centrally in Niagara Falls as to have Rainbow bridge access as well as NYS Thruway access. We could have 2 completely different sets of advertising at the stadium where the TV's / Big Boards are all digital & customized for each team respectively. The 2 games can be played in December to help assure a full house & if placed in the same division, we'd have another intense rivalry like we have between the Sabres / Leafs where each other's fans could help fill the respective stadium. Miami could get moved to a southern division for travel sake (NFC South with Tampa in it) & make their own inter-state rivalry. The Bills would also gain additional viewership from out of market places like Toronto which would interest local advertisers wishing to expand their own markets across the border, so one would think we could find new sources of revenues. The NFL could charge stations like CBC / other Canadian stations additional rights / fees, which obviously would be highly viewed events locally / internationally on our game days.

Jones pining for Jon Bon Jovi in Toronto can get his fix, we have our new stadium half paid for by an outside party & we'd have a new team to hate, win win for Bills fans.

Why in the world would a Toronto franchise want their stadium an hour and a half from the city

Why would a new team from Toronto build a stadium in NF instead of someplace like maybe Toronto?

Yeah I agree negative.

In fact I think a Toronto franchise even if not the bills could kill this team as the Bills need to get people from Ontario and Toronto big business

Another completely ******ed idea.

Dude what is your deal?

Let me get this straight.... We put a stadium in Niagara falls Canada to be shared by a Toronto and a Buffalo Team?

What Toronto big business do you see now associated with the Bills in Buffalo?

It would make zero sense for there to be a team in both Toronto and Buffalo... zero sense.

I have no problem with franchises sharing a stadium, but this is not the market for it. Toronto wouldn't support a franchise that bears its name but doesn't even play in the same country.

9 million people with the greater Toronto area including Niagara Falls, it's a bigger market than most think.

Would you support the Bills if their home stadium was in Mississauga or Guelph?

A lot of those people- particularly in Niagara Falls- already support the Bills, at least the ones who care about the NFL. The region can't support two NFL franchises.

There are only 3 2-team markets in the NFL:
San Fran/Oakland: 7.5 million people
Baltimore/Washington- 9.5 million people
NY/NJ- 19 million people

Toronto is 6 million people, Buffalo is a little over a million. Combined, they are barely as large as the smallest 2 team market currently in the NFL. Making matters worse, the overwhelming majority of the population is Canadian. This isn't a knock at Canadians because the Bills receive a great deal of support from our neighbors to the north, but Canadians are not as rabid about the NFL as Americans are and they tend to be protective of the CFL. This needs no further proof than the lukewarm reception of the Bills in Toronto series.

Toronto people who are willing to drive 2 hours south to watch the NFL already do that to watch the Bills. Putting "Toronto" in front of a team that's 2 hours away isn't going to convince anyone else to start making the trek. Same goes for Toronto companies that may buy advertising or luxury boxes.

You're absolutely nuts if you think the region can support two teams. We're barely supporting one.

Seriously, people on this site whine about how LA can't support a team with a little over 12 million people, yet somehow think WNY/Southern Ontario can support TWO with a little over half that population.

****ing A.

Maybe we could share a stadium with an LA team in Kansas.

This is ree-ree

You can't have a team with a stadium located in another country.

End of thread.

Go sniff some more magic markers.
