WASHINGTON – Billionaire developer Donald Trump reiterated his interest in buying the Buffalo Bills on Monday, saying that he doesn’t think his years-ago involvement in a rival football league or his history of operating casinos would stand in his way.
“We are going to put in a bid,” Trump said in response to questions after a luncheon speech at the National Press Club. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in Buffalo. If the price isn’t the right price, then I won’t get it, and I won’t be ashamed of it … But if I get it, I think I’ll probably do a good job.”
Trump said he didn’t know how many bidders will try to buy the team, which is on the market after the recent death of their founder and owner, Ralph C. Wilson Jr.
“There will probably be at least a few,” he said.
Trump – who worked with Erie County Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy and political consultant Michael Caputo as he considered a bid for New York governor – said he has “a great relationship” with people in Buffalo.

it's also a joke. he'll be interested with his new toy at first, over promote it, fail to deliver what he promised, blame everyone else and sell it at a loss.

Why not? I think the NFL would want Trump as an owner.

The last thing the league wants is the attention and controversy that comes with one of their owners popping off at the mouth on news stations such as Fox News on whatever the current controversial topic of the week is

I can't decide if he would be more worried about turning the highest profit year to year or if he would actually want to win to increase/promote is brand.

Trump is a bad solution. It is essential that you have a balanced owner (in all areas) to be successful. Besides, I'd guess he'll get outbid.

IMO the above says a lot. I think he plays the game out as long as he can, bids low, loses, then moves on to the next episode to keep his name and presence in the press. At this point, I'd rather have Bon Jovi.

Not every owner has balance, it's a unrealistic ending in a fairy tale story. We better hope somebody puts more money into the area than the state has for new businesses in decades, otherwise it's bye bye Bills.

What Trump says he'll do and what he ends up actually doing are two entirely different things.

Keep fooling yourself for the publicity there Donald. Neither he nor Bon Jovi have the cash to buy the Bills and Chump already said the price has to be right which it isn't going to be for him.

"Timothy L. O'Brien wrote in his 2005 book, "TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald," that the developer was probably worth $150 to $250 million, rather than the typical estimates of $2 to $3 billion."

Suck on that Trump lovers!

Depends how you define "relevance". Trump is a publicity hound I'll grant you that. But saying and doing dumb things is not how I'd like to see the Bills become relevant. I'd prefer an owner that we never hear from and puts the best possible team he can on the field. Then we'll be relevant in a good way. I hope he loses.

For the uber wealthy there are better investments around.

Owning an NFL team for most owners is an ego trip. One would presume that for most of those owners that winning matters.

Any owner that's not in it for himself is lying.

nfl investment is a bit of a cash cow. guaranteed returns of $120MM...constant upping of the TV fees. It's a pretty riskless investment for the most part. you put up a ton of cash now to recoup it conservatively over 15 years. and then after that its just profit. Not a bad deal. especially with states and league loans picking up your biggest expense (the stadium).

as for trump, the guy would have had enough money to buy alone if he just did nothing with his daddy's inheritance but put it in a savings acct.
