|The Buffalo Bills (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/buf/buffalo-bills?ex_cid=null) signed offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16796/cyrus-kouandjio?ex_cid=null) to his rookie contract Thursday.

Kouandjio, who played at Alabama, was the Bills' second-round pick. He is the final Bills' draft pick to sign his rookie deal.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Kouandjio split first-team reps with Erik Pears (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9399/erik-pears?ex_cid=null) during organized team activities Wednesday and Thursday. Kouandjio and Pears will likely compete for the starting right tackle job in training camp.

Splitting first team reps with Pears on day #1 of the first OTAs. Sends a message to Pears. Unless there is injury or screw-up, Mr. Kuonadjio is the new right tackle. That ought to make an awful lot of Bills fans (and CJ Spiller) happy.

At right tackle though, it wasn’t only Pears getting all the first team reps. Second-round selection Cyrus Kouandjio got nearly half the first-team reps during 11-on-11s, likely signaling a wide-open competition between the two sides.

I am so hoping this kid can step in and play effectively right from the start.

It won't take much to do better than Pears did last year.

I bust on the front office unmercifully (although with good reason) a lot of times, but having everyone signed before June tells me they're dead serious about this season.
