“It takes time and we go through routes versus air every day,” said Watkins. “(EJ Manuel) knows where to put the ball in tight coverages. Today he did a great job throwing the ball and he did a great job running our offense. I think this was one of our best days from an offensive point of view. For us wide receivers we didn’t have that many mental errors.”

“I’m excited because what happens is that a lot of times even players you’re looking at the end product and looking for end results. For us we’re looking for those steps and where he’s going with the ones he’s taking,” said Marrone. “Really with everything we’ve got going in and the volume, which is full scale right now, he’s making a great amount of improvement in the things he didn’t do as well last year. It starts with the foundation and his footwork and the things that are going on. I’m really excited about where he is and the amount of stuff that we put on his plate.”

“I would say from the last game last season to now I’m way further ahead,” said Manuel. “We’ve learned our responsibility of having the ability to change plays. Coach Hackett is not second guessing what we’re doing. I think he trusts me a lot more to get us in the right play. I definitely feel a lot better with my grasp of the offense.”
Watkins feels good about what Manuel has shown in the spring to this point.
“He’s a great quarterback and from a wide receiver point of view we’ve got to get the steps (down),” said Watkins. “It’s our fault if he doesn’t get us the ball because it’s all about steps and timing and it’s coming along. We’ve still got a lot to work on because sometimes we’re doing five and six steps when we should be doing seven. That’s something we’ve got to clean up before we start the season.”

Among some of the better plays turned in during team portions of practice, Chris Hoganhttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/chris-hogan/67d1d7af-af6c-4aab-8d39-5eee39caf2d2/) made a nice over the shoulder reception on a pass from EJ Manuel, who caught the safeties cheating up field.
Lee Smithhttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/lee-smith/362affae-3d07-42f9-92c6-98e986911821/) snared a high speed pass that came in just over his head on a seam route for a 25-yard gain from Manuel.
Sammy Watkins took a quick slant pass and tore up the field and likely would’ve outrun the safety on the play for a 70-yard touchdown.
During red zone work Robert Woodshttp://www.buffalobills.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/robert-woods/1d2978c0-1e6d-4073-9de3-d1f915fbad0e/) pulled in a Manuel pass for a touchdown on a post route.

From the same Mike Rodak. Seems to contradict himself?

"Even before the weather was a factor, it was a practice to forget for quarterback EJ Manuel (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/15803/ej-manuel?ex_cid=null) and first-round pick Sammy Watkins (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16725/sammy-watkins?ex_cid=null). In a routes-versus-air drill, three of Manuel's throws directed towards Watkins in the end zone were off-target. Watkins got his hands on each but couldn't haul them in.

Later in the practice, back indoors, Manuel hit Watkins with a well-thrown pass but Watkins couldn't get ahold of the ball. Manuel also had multiple passes on fade patterns sail over receivers in the end zone, a trend during the three weeks of OTAs.

The Bills wrapped up practice with a full-team red zone drill. Manuel's first pass was an incomplete fade pattern, while his second pass was overthrown. Following a hand-off to Anthony Dixon (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13212/anthony-dixon?ex_cid=null) that went for a touchdown, Manuel's next pass was thrown away, while his final pass was intended for Dixon on a dump-off but was off the mark."

Right. The original poster only told part of the story. It's Manuel's MO. Throw one good pass, then throw three bad ones.

BS.

There is no way that he had even one decent throw.

Especially since the real bullets are flying... in June... in shorts... against his own team... with many new players... and many new plays... against a whole new defensive scheme... With a few weeks of practice at this point... without pads on even once

He sucks and we all have an adequate amount of data to know that he can never be the guy we need at QB. And these OTA's in June in shorts prove definitively that he sucks and that he will never be our guy.

Watch any game from last season and you can see Manuel scan more than just half the field on plays, maybe on certain packages, he had a read for a certain section of the field, but it's not like all he ever did was look right or left. Watching and understanding the game and not just listening to what some reporter says verbatim, will help.
