Damn, Tim Murray is puttin on a clinic, trade players away for picks, and in a few months bring them right back

Darcy Regier, take notes man.

Apparently, Darcy Regier spent all day at home calling agents to see if any players had an interest in signing with his team. Despite not actually having a team, his calls were returned by Tim Kennedy and Tim Conolly.

Kevin Porter goes to Detroit on a two-way deal, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

So it looks like Buffalo is on the lookout for some help for the Amerks.

TSN's Darren Dreger reports that Andrey Meszaros has been signed by Buffalo. 1 year, $4 mill. Good backup D signing, IMO. (Add-on: Oops! JATM beat me to it.)

Also...update on Ryan Miller's signing with the 'Couve: Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos says that Miller gets a $5 mil/yearly base salary and a $1 mil signing bonus each year. Plus, his no trade clause has been modified; it now lists only 5 teams he'll accept a trade to.

one entry level contract would do it, 55K or so is what they need, entry level is still like 925K isnt it?

Depending how Reinhart does at camp.

So: (not line recommendations, just random placements)
Moulson - Hodgson - Gionta
Girgensens - Ennis - Stafford
Foligno - McCormic- Stewart
Flynn/Ellis/Mitchell/Grigorenko/Adam/Reinhart?

Gorges - Weber
Myers - Meszaros
Ristolainen - Ruhwedel/Pysyk/Zadorov?

I am so glad Islanders cannot sign anyone noteworthy. Even Buffalo finishing worst in the league is more attractive than playing on the Island. Also shows players love Buffalo as a city and believe in what they are doing.

Holy **** you get all that from a few middle of the road free agent signings?

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The New York Islanders made a big splash on the second day of free agency, signing centre Mikhail Grabovski (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=mikhail+grabovski) and former Toronto Maple Leafs teammate Nikolai Kulemin (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=nikolai+kulemin).
Grabovski received a US$20-million, four-year contract, while Kulemin got $16.75 million over four years.

Both of them scored 30 goals a few seasons ago.

Just like Drury when the Rangers grabbed him, eh?

Grabovski is about done. 30 years old and spent half the season injured. He scored a third of his career goals in one season and it's been downhill since. Last year, Toronto bought out his contract. Granted, the Caps got some decent production, 13/22, for only $3 million. I doubt he'll put up those numbers again...and for $5 million per?

Kulemin might be another story. He might still have some legs but his production has fallen off even more than Grabovski. But both had a decent Olympics. Who knows? Maybe they can both reignite some of that chemistry from that glorious season in Toronto where they combined for 59 goals and nearly helped the Leafs qualify for the playoffs.

Damn Islanders are doing it right...

Vanek will have some jump in his step playing with a real centre and finally out of Buffalo.

The draft picks are 3-5 years away from doing much of anything in the NHL anyway so no big loss there for N.Y...

I think Vanek will resign on the Island, They will be in Brooklyn soon in a brand new arena with plenty for the players to do after work.

Moulson hates life right now.
