Walmart employee turns in badge for pads.

Former Florida State DB Jajuan Harley turns in Walmart badge for shot with Bills

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – During his lunch break at Walmart, he would seldom eat lunch.
Jajuan Harley ducked into a bathroom, took off his blue shirt with his name tag, changed into workout clothes, and then headed outside to run a steep cement hill until it was time to return to work.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Great story. Too bad these guys rarely stick. Maybe a spot on the practice squad will get him some bank.

fun read. would be better if it actually pans out.

but this is so in the bills wheelhouse. they love these outside chance things. the fact that he didn't take off at FSU and then went to D2 and didn't really standout, pretty much sums it up. great athlete but not good enough.

If we keep 10 DB's, he's got a shot. If not... well it was a nice story.

He must have smelled pretty bad when he got back to work. When I was in high school I used to work at a store after school, about 3 miles from school, but if the forecast was for rain, I'd take a bus. One time I missed the bus & ran to work (I ran cross country & track in high school so it was no big deal to take off & run). Years later I think that I must have stunk after running 3 miles to work, but at the time I didn't even think about it, just wanted to get to work on time. I do remember arriving all sweaty.

Good for him, hope he earns a spot somewhere.
