A one-game suspension might not seem like much, but you can only dress 46 out of your 53 man active list on game day. So a team not dripping with LB talent has to now make an extra jump through the roster-juggling hoop on a season-opening away game.

Substance abuse and possession aren't the same thing. Failed drug tests trigger automatic suspensions for a defined period of time. For other transgressions it's up to the commish.

With the Ray Rice fiasco causing so much criticism, it's going to be pretty hard for Goodell to give out longer suspensions for non-violent misdemeanors.

Bradham addressed the suspension.

"Everything was dismissed [in court]. Everything was dismissed. I'm not in the substance abuse program," Bradham said Wednesday. "It's kind of shocking and it's kind of disappointing that it came back again."

Bradham said the NFL declined an appeal of his suspension earlier this month.
