He will retire a Bill, which is how it should be. No matter what.

He's getting 2.4 mil this season, so it can't be more than that.

Bingo… the Bills have ZERO players outside of their punter over the last 10 years that they can call upon as alumni, or ambassadors. Fred Jackson is that guy for the future. There's going to be a time when the Super Bowl era players need a rest.

Jackson has the back story the work ethic and the respect of everyone.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
              It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I thought the same until I saw it was 1 year. Really doesn't mean much for CJ.

Maybe / maybe not, 1 year isn't long.

This is a HUGE year for CJ.

If he has a great year, he will command a big contract.

I would expect the Bills to make him a good offer like they did with Byrd.

If he wants to be the highest paid RB or up there in the Peterson area, he probably leaves.

That's it. This is a big wet kiss bestowed on Fred.

Where would he go? No one pays RB's anymore.

I'd like to see CJ get an extension before the season starts. It's not like he's going to get any cheaper.

he can get plenty cheaper. if he keeps getting dinged up and not be a 3 down back, it will be hard for him to demand big money. if the bills extend him now, it would be crazy. you can find more talent in the draft in any round for a cheaper cost than resigning a rb who hasn't lived up to expectations.

that being said, i'm not anti-CJ. i just think he's a utility player that has been misused most of his time here. he needs the ball in the second half when teams are worn down. he needs to be in screen packages with FJ occassionally.

but i really don't know what to make of him. he could show to be a 3 down back if he doesn't get injured. and if the line play gets better, he could help take a lot of pressure off a young qb.
