It's such a good plan… There's so little chance of it happening...

not enough parking there. they'd probably have to put it on the south side... of course that would mean eating up all that harbor space sitting vacant, maybe rerouting route 5... personally i think if you do it, you do it right. make it part of that harbor restoration project that never seems to get anywhere... use this as the chance to finally knock down that ****** skyway and those grain silos... maybe run the lightrail another 10 blocks...

The thing that blows my mind, is i've lived all over this country... and the things i'm talking about HAPPEN everywhere else. I mean you should see the stuff that happens outside buffalo. Unfortunately the plan i just outlined will never happen in buffalo. It's too progressive, too big... too well thought out.

No, they'll build it somewhere hard to get to, in a neighborhood that doesn't need it or want it, they'll give it a retractable dome that is never open (I still think you build an open air stadium, I've played in, and coached and watched plenty of football in a doom, not anywhere near as right as football outside) adding a billion to the cost of the stadium... a billion they could have spent on other things... like roads and transportation to the stadium... area renewal... knocking down the skyway. You know practical things. If they want to build a dome, build a dome. Don't do these stupid retractable roofs. They're never open during a game. NEVER.

you know what? If they would rip down this eyesore "PIECE OF CRAP" skyway once and for all they could build the stadium right between the Harbor Center and the Naval Park. ffwd this video to 1:10 and you will see what I'm talking about. The Red brick building is the Naval Park

I think something like this could happen. They need to get the trains right to the stadium and spread the economic impact all along the train line. That's the best thing they could do.

I also have going through my mind a cheaper alternative to a retractable roof that has yet to be engineered. It would take long to deploy to only be done once per year. Events could take place Jan - Mar. One idea looks something like a tent over the stadium somewhat like the carrier dome. When football season is over you deploy it and then take it down in April. Much less materials and mechanical structure. Some manpower to deploy it and take it down each year.

Jamie Moses, the Artvoice editor, has come a long way from playing a good hard rock set at Mr. Goodbar and trying to pick up my girflfriend when I went to get another round, to designing stadiums.

Having once squared him away by saying "Listen here Moses...." I figured I could do it again, by designing a better stadium than he and his band of Artvoice hacks could, easily.

Unfortunately my stadium design program (Microsoft Paint) refuses to let me adequately express my vision with all my lines coming out crooked as if a child were fingerpainting.

Moses and his Artvoice lackeys win this time. We don't need that junk, we need something someone else came up with.

you know it's been almost 3 years since I've been in Buffalo. Still have Bills season tickets. Sorta depressing to see the waterfront looks identical to how it looked when i last was down there (maybe 8 years ago)

Parking is definitely an issue, but I think it could be worked out. The SE corner (past the casino) of this whole development has space that could be used for ground level, uncovered tailgating, and even more down Ohio Street. That's a 2-5 block walk, depending. Plus, he has a Field House in his plan. I say leave the Field House and practice field right where it is. OP can still serve a purpose in that sense, and we open up space for more 1st floor retail and upper level parking. That stretch of I-190 is a total eyesore and has no place in a vibrant, lively downtown and tunneling it makes good sense.

Living locally, I cannot see anywhere downtown. They should just build a new stadium across from the current one in one of the Bolls lots, if they have to appease the NFL. Then restore the lost parking space by leveling the Ralph.

Actually, downtown and the waterfront area has been changing conisderably.

The entire Harbor Center. Phillips Lytle building. The Canalside is coming along.

There is still a lot of work to do.

But people keep saying there is nothing going and nothing is changing. Most of from people who don't live here and, quite frankly, do not know what the hell they are talking about.

I really think that if Pegula buys the team it will be downtown. He will have everything down there - Sabres, Bills, Harbor Center, the space he just rented, etc.

Hey - it cuts my travel distance in half.

Putting it where the Summit Mall is, would be even better but I won't be greedy

ingtar, it looks a lot different. i'm in ny now, but i go home regularly for games and such. my parents are in the suburbs. in oct, i was downtown for the first time in a while and it was changing. lots of cranes, etc for the harbor center. the casino was finishing up. it was more lively as you approach the water.

i was kind of stunned at how much changed without looking dramatically different. there are still lack of businesses to make it lively, but it's better than it was a few years ago...it's moving in the right direction.

This Stadium design is akin to people who design new logos for the Bills most of which look hideous as does that Stadium design.

I doubt any engineer had anything to do with that design either.

I would not want to see multi level parking garages. Imagine every car parked in a multi level garage as depicted trying to exit at the same time.

There are always limited exits from lots to control traffic. Multi-leveled lots would be the way to go--that along with a solid transit system would solve the downtown parking problem.

I agree about mass transit, but I'm not a fan of multi level garages having had to park in them at airports when only a limited number of cars were coming & going at any one time.

That is bad enough. I would not want to think about every single car parked in one of them trying to leave at once.

And they look hideous as well.

I think they're close, location wise, but to me, the other side of the Thruway is the way to go. Get rid of the Perry Projects, most of which are abandoned already, and there's a ton of available land for parking, and it would be easy to create access and egress without going subterranean.

And when Terry P buys the team, he will hire HOK architects and put together the best retractable stadium imaginable.

I would be more concerned with getting in than getting out. I tailgate as long as possible after the game, the lot usually looks like a litter filled Siberian tundra when I pull out.

I agree in a sense...but they are practical! They can't be prettied up too. The parking situation downtown is horrible....

Where would you tailgate based on what was shown in that Stadium view?

I don't think multilevel parking garages are conducive to tail gating.

And going, people trickle in. Leaving, the vast majority want out at once.

People have to get over the idea that tailgaiting is in the NFL's interest. they don't like that. it eats into their profits.

plus for buffalo proper, having a reason for restuarants and bars to open around a stadium is better financially for everyone.i get that it's fun to tailgate the way we've gotten accustomed, but if the other option to pay money at helping improve our downtown, we should be into that.

I'm sure when Pegula buys the Bills he will do what he can to help develop that area, but MANY Cities tailgate, some like KC, are said to have better tailgating than Buffalo.

As I said before, people tailgate in Tampa & that stadium is located in the City.

And with 1:00 PM start times, there is little time to go to a restaurant before the game.

I have no need for a passport at this time.

So are you going to use yours to buy a $55 ticket to a Bills game?

And I would pay a lot more than $10.00 for genuine Canadian Beer if I could get it.

Well God bless on the survival.

IMO, Canada has a much better health care system than the USA.

Like the Jimmy Buffett song says "I used to have money one time".

At one time I owned a house on Siesta Key, on a canal that led out to the Gulf & it had a cement Sea Wall & a nice swimming pool. A five minute walk to the public Siesta Key beach, one of the best beaches in the entire world.

Luckily the house we have in Englewood is paid for & we are making ends meet, but that is about it.
