j/k. Well about the last part. He really was let go. The Browns did something the Bills should have - signed Rex Grossman.

APWhile all the quarterback talk in Cleveland focuses on Johnny Manziel (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9271/johnny-manziel) trying to win the job away from Brian Hoyer (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5463/brian-hoyer), a veteran passer has been added to the mix.
Rex Grossman (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2450/rex-grossman), the 11-year veteran who had been a free agent, has signed with the Browns. The signing will reunite Grossman with Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9317/kyle-shanahan); the two worked together for the last five years, four in Washington and one in Houston.
“Rex is excited to work with Kyle Shanahan again. This is a great fit for him,” agent Drew Rosenhaus said.

The arrival of Grossman gives Cleveland a veteran who knows Shanahan’s offense well, which should benefit both Manziel and Hoyer. Veteran backup quarterback Tyler Thigpen (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4284/tyler-thigpen) is being released to make room for Grossman on the roster.

grossman would just be a distraction if EJ isn't playing well. EJ needs to play this season out to see where he is. even if he is mediocre (ie. 3000 yards passing, 14 TD's 14INTs, 58% completion rate, QBrating of 70) the bills need to select another qb in the draft with EJ's skill set of being a bigger qb who can run.

the bills have set up a style of offense they are committed to. if ej can't do it, it's better to find and EJ with accuracy than to scrap the entire offense and start over.

i really just hope the OL can come together for the run game and make the QB position less of a need.

But but but Johnny Football is the next great QB why would the Browns have to sign Grossman if they have the next great one?

If we get to the point of needing Rex Grossman, we might as well let Toady Bon Jovi move the franchise to Toronto or Tom's River, New Jersey.

He was serving a suspension from Papa John's for punching in late..so the phone call from Cleveland was welcome.

The Bills should have already signed Kyle Orton. Jeff Tuel blows.

Grossman is far better at leading an NFL team than either Tuel or Thad Lewis. So yes. I am serious. Would rather have Orton, but would take Grossman.

If Orton and Grossman are anything, why didn't any of the other 31 teams look at them for either a 2nd or 3rd stringer ?

Because they already have guys not named Jeff Tuel.

You know the answer to that. It's camp. They're trying to find younger guys that are diamonds in the rough. Guys like this get picked up, usually, when injuries start to occur. That's why it's curious as to why The Browns did this now. Has anyone seen they're explanation? Looks like they gave up on Thigpen.

Grossman and Shanahan have familiarity with one another. A veteran presence that knows the playbook and provides some leadership to a rookie QB and a guy who hasn't seen a lot of action at QB in the NFL.

Surprised they didn't bring him in sooner when they were toying around with Thigpen and VY.
