    Fantasy Advice

I am about to start my first fantasy draft. It is a keeper league with a lot of keepers. By virtue of winning the non playoff team championship, I get the first overall pick.

My keepers are: Andrew Luck. DeMarco Murray, Julio Jones and Dez Bryant (not including my IDP's, who do not matter right now) Starting line up is QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE and an offensive flex (RB, WR or TE)

The big question is - who do I draft first overall?

Candidates include Gioviani Bernard, Doug Marton, Rob Gronkowski, Andre Ellington, and any rookie.

There are WR's available (Demaryius Thomas for one), but I really should take a RB

Thoughts? Or do you have a sleeper type of RB that you think might be available that I should snag (say a Rashard Jennings)

It is also possible, in theory, that Reggie Bush or Eddie Lacy will be available. But I assume that they will be a keeper.

        DT for sure.

Fantasy is all about the points. Building your team with guys like Julio, DT and Dez, you're set with each one putting well over 200pts+.
BJE's still there and CIN drafted a RB high, so I doubt Gio will be a bell cow. Martin's interesting, but I still think DT will put up more points.

            Gronk.

Part of success in fantasy is distancing your positions from the other players, and anybody that has Graham or Gronkowski goes into a season with a definitive advantage.

              Hmmmmmm...

Now it might be starting 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE and a flex

That makes Thomas more enticing for sure.

The scoring is weird too - you get points for receptions and for carries too.

Hmmm....points for carries is a big consideration.

                        Re: Fantasy Advice

Hard to give advise on a league with wonky rules. I would stingily consider Thomas though. He might not yield as many points as a Martin but he will be consistent every week. Martin will not be.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                        It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Gronk is the best player of that lot but I am usually risk averse with my first pick.

Point per carry is nothing I've played before so it's a hard measure but if that's the case I'd think the RBs you mentioned all make sense. Gio has the most upside but might be splittiing duties. Doug Martin could be a beast but I'm not sold on as even in his great rookie season his stats were blown up by two big games. Yet if playing things safe I'd go with Ellington. Yet the Gronk arguement makes sense if he's healthy. Tough tough call. I'd see if you can trade down and get more picks in the first four rounds.

Assuming Gronk plays, sure he's been cleared to practice by the Pats but he still has injury concerns.
