Hackett is Just NOT Cutting It -- He Should Be Fired

I know Marrone will not do it but let's be frank, Hackett was lucky to be an OC in Syracuse.

He really is holding this Offense back.

I have seen nothing to suggest he is some under 30 year old offensive guru.

Yeah EJ may not be the guy but Hackett has made Spiller marginal.

Marrone has made a big mistake tying his future to Hackett.

Hackett is 34 years old.. You and your buddy Felch need to start using Wikipedia or google as resources instead of throwing out inaccurate facts and statements

      I saw that.

Does it change the direction of the thread?

34 years old is still got to be one of the youngest OCs in the NFL.

      33 last year.

Can you please check my grammar as well?

      Thank you.

I don't know that his age has anything to do with it. He just sucks at play calling

Well when you hire a very young NFL inexperienced OC or DC it is usually because you see him as a progressive game changer.

The safer bet is to hire someone who has already done it.

Hackett simply does not have that kind of flair.

I agree. I'm not a fan of Hackett's offense or his play calling. He might be good someday, but they should've let him simmer a while longer in NCAA or as a positional coach. It's not like Cuse was an offensive juggernaut under Hackett.

Normally I would counter with something along the lines of it being preseason, they're calling plays for evaluation purposes not really game-planning, etc, but with Marrone's alleged and repeated emphasis on 'winning' one has to believe that's also expected from the coaching staff, not just the players. Hackett, though, gets more than one season to prove himself also, just like anybody else.

Maybe Marrone eventually takes play calling duties since it's his scheme.

FWIW, one of my initial criticisms of Marrone was not bringing in an experienced OC.

                    Oh oh.

Now you have offended the homers.

                    You are in double trouble...

                      Fair enough.

                      2 years is fine.

If we end up less than 8-8 and our D is better than our O, do you agree that Hackett has to go after this season?

In all due respect, what experience does he have in offensive play calling?

When he was in NO Payton was making those calls.

There are a lot more factors than that to consider before making that kind of decision, but Hackett definitely needs to show improvement over last season.

He may be terrible, but changing your coordinator right before the season starts is hardly a predictor for success. Just ask Turk Schonert.

                              I agree.

                              Let's decide on some goals.

                              What are yours?

                              Yeah yeah of course.

Let's talk about after this season.

Personally, I would have made the change after last season.
