The Pats could end up cutting Mallett given how good Garoppolo has looked. They probably try to trade him first, but probably won't find any takers given how he has played. Of course, he hasn't looked great and may not be much of an upgrade as a backup.
Ryan Nassib is in a battle with Curtis Painter for the Giants backup job, and the loser could get cut.
Pretty ugly options.
