I think this has less to do with mcdavid and more to do with bringing an OHL team to the city eventually.

Can you say that with any certainty?

ACTUALLY, it has a lot to do with a double booking at the Erie Insurance Arena. HFBoards already notes the date(October 22nd)and who's coming(the Niagara IceDogs). (The circus is playing the EIA on that date.)

Trust me, the OHL isn't going to expand to bring Buffalo in here. So the question becomes: Which team does Buffalo poach?

And, just one more thing: They'd likely have to curtain off the 300 level unless and until ticket demand exists for major junior A.

True, but here's the question: Which city do you shatter the dreams of in order to bring the OHL to WNY(presuming it even happens, which is not a given)?

Belleville and Plymouth draw poorly. Very.

No one can say that with any certainty but we all know the league doesn't want him in Buffalo. They want him either in a large market or on a financially struggling team that needs to be saved.

If we are bad enough to be in the #1 slot again, the league will rig it so we don't win the lottery.

Maybe. But people seem to forget that we have quite a few first round picks this year. Besides our own, we have the Isles'. And they're just as capable of doing THE TANK! as we are. (We also have St. Louis', but they're less likely to tank.) If THEY finish dead last...well, you do the math.

I guess we're going to have to REALLY stink up the league this year so the NHL will have no choice but to hear us pick McDavid next year. (Though if that doesn't happen, I'll gladly settle for Jack Eichel.)

does all that mean we could end up with the first and second picks in next years draft?

Plymouth I can see why. This is what happens when you play hockey in an arena that could pass as a big box store(a la Home Depot). The side scoreboards give you a headache, they don't seem to care much about upkeep of the arena, and the PA announcer will cause you to run screaming back into the arms(so to speak)of the Bandits PA announcer, Chris Swenson. While he IS an acquired taste, he doesn't rub you the wrong way. (Though their souvenir shop/equipment store IS top notch.

As for Belleville, that's tougher to figure out. Belleville did pour in some money to improve the arena there, so the commitment to keep the Bulls seems to exist.
