I think Schwartz might become the interim head coach- IMHO

Doug lost the team over the last few weeks, he's been supporting players that can't handle the QB position & did nothing until very recently to rectify this huge short-coming. I think this is grounds for termination & Whaley will need to throw someone on the sword to save some face.

I think it's adios to a headcoach who is obviously in over his head, Schwartz will holdover the position on an interim basis. This is all my based on my opinion, no outside sources or links.

    I agree Skoob. (IMHO)

Although I think it will take 0-8 for them to make the change.

Could we play a game first?

By the way Marrone has nothing to do with bringing in players.

Play a game. Ha. Like the team is magically gonna get better in the next 10 days. Why does everyone seem to think that the Bills are going to have a huge jump in play quality when the season starts, but our opponents won't?

And I would hope Marrone has something to do with bringing in players. Obviously the final decision is Whaley's but if Marrone isn't telling him what he wants/needs in terms of players, then this team is 1000x more dysfunctional than I thought.

I agree with Thurm. How is it Marrone's fault? He's supporting the players he has at the QB position? I think he'd lose the locker room real fast if he said "Man, our QBs suck. We are dinked. Sorry, I can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear".

I just can't judge until it matters. Will they be better? Probably not but they could be.

I don't expect any changes until the new owner is in place.

I don't know whether they fire Marrone or not. I think Marrone's frustrations stem from things that are out of his control. And that's why he's frustrated. Every coach has to be a company man, if Marrone wants EJ or not we will never really know. The team made the pick and he has to back it, what choice does he have?

I am also not going to put too much weight in the performance or effort from these players in the pre-season. 90% of these players are protecting themselves in the pre-season, that's the number 1 priority unless you're fighting for a roster spot.

Lastly the Bills have taken some risks bringing in players who aren't exactly squeaking clean, they were moves that we typically stayed away from. So as far as the off the field stuff, these are things that happen when you take those risks. It happens to every team, including the Patriots. Winning makes you forget all about it.

I really like the guy as a coach, I don't think he's in over his head I think he's fighting to keep his job and he's beyond frustrated with the weapons he has in that fight. He's shown up to war with a plastic fork.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

We need to play a game first before we start making assumptions that Marrone lost his team.

#1 rule in the pre-season. Don't get hurt. Every player keeps that in mind.

I agree with everything you just said, except the weapons part. The team is loaded with weapons. Great RBs, lots of speed and size at the WR position. There's really only one thing holding the offense back. I think that's what's the most frustrating part for Doug. Yes he was probably on board with drafting EJ, but I'm sure he'd like to have a better backup option. He's probably frustrated that his job hinges on a 2nd year QB who appears not ready.

And you don't think that our opponents are holding back because they have the same mentality?

They may. I am just willing to commit to the statement that this coach has lost his team until I see his team not fight for him. And I won't see that until the games matter.'
