Wow they actually realized that he sucks? They couldn't figure that out last season when he came back after being cut and sucked at that time also?

No wonder they can't properly evaluate QBs, they can't even evaluate a punter.

Brian was a great punter... but it looks like age caught up to him. class guy, great professional. It was fun watching him play all those years... I still have two of his plays tattoo'ed on my brain from this last 15y of football hell.

It will. I posted the same link earlier today on the NFL Zone section.

BTW - there's a bit of craftiness about making cuts before the deadline on Saturday. With luck, one who you want for your ps gets passed by, by the waiver pickers ahead of you.

You know how when you hear someone *****ing about their team and saying they could do a better job than the coach and GM? 99% of the time they sound like morons, but, in the case of Bills fans, it's probably true.

We're talking about a front office that figured out that both Fitzpatrick and Manuel were terrible a full year after guys who sit on the coach and watch the games while drinking.

I highly doubt that this team will only carry 2 QBs especially when neither have shown to be very durable, let alone good.

I'm thinking they comb the wire for a punting kickoff specialist backup QB defensive tackle who can play guard in a pinch.

So the Bills are the smartest guy in the room by allegedly not using any real offensive plays in the preseason. Day after the final preseason game their starting QB blows, and they are scouring the waiver wire for a veteran. They then also cut their punter without having one who punted once in the preseason? You truly can't make this stuff up.

I think Ponder might be the one QB that has started in the league last year and has looked worse than EJ has this preseason. Maybe I'm giving OBD too much credit, but with letting Palmer go and only leaving EJ and Tuel, they have to have some sort of plan. Probably a lousy cockamamie plan, but still a plan.

Surprised about Cohen myself, not letting Dombrowski punt makes less sense with Moorman evidently on the thinner side of ice, and now I read they're trying to trade Urbik.

I felt bad for Naaman Roosevelt, he could have gotten some reps, any reps these past games also. Signing, playing, and cutting Palmer in what, 4 days, makes no sense to me. Kind of torks me off they were so sure of their QB's before camp and are back to desperately seeking one again at the start of regular.

do you remember when i flipped my lid over the drafting of Lee Evans and not trading up for Ben Rothlesburger? That still drives me nuts. Its not often i see a guy in college and think "all pro" but Big Ben had "All Pro" written all over him in college. Instead we went Lee Evans and JP Losman. That draft still gets under my skin

Well, that draft still gets under my skin too, but mostly because of what they did with Losman.

They drafted him as a mobile QB because Bledsoe was a statue. I was real excited, picturing rollouts, run and gun, etc...we had Sam Wyche as QB coach, which I thought was excellent. Wyche started out saying his meetings with Losman were exciting, the kid had such enthusiasm you wanted to shove the tables aside and start playing some football right there.

Then every preseason report started revolving around how they were working intently and with difficulty to break Losman of his footwork to make him stay in the pocket with a shorter drop and faster release. They were trying to make him into Bledsoe, the guy they drafted a mobile QB to replace. So they drafted a mobile QB to replace an immobile one, and the first order of training was to make him immobile.

Oh it made me gnash my teeth. I didn't figure it was Wyche's idea. But it made me look so much closer at what they were doing with QB's. Like Kelly was adept at calling his own plays so did they try to "break him" of audibles ?

Then they drafted Edwards and I was beside myself. You replaced an immobile QB with a mobile QB you insisted become less mobile, then replaced him with someone fragile and less mobile and tried making him more mobile ? I settled in for the long patient hiring/firing cycle after that. Getting close again.

Grab a project QB, and don't treat him like one. If they'd have gotten Luck they'd have tried making him RG3, if they got RG3, they'd have tried making him Andy Dalton.

EJ Manuel wouldn't have even made this Bills team if he wasn't a first round pick and he'd have a difficult time even being a backup on the majority of NFL teams.

Oddly enough 3 other teams had rookie QBs last year who played as well/if not better than EJ and all 3 brought in veteran QBs. 2 of them brought in veterans to actually be new starters.

Yet the Bills sit on their hands and just say oh, we don't care how bad you suck, it's your job. We won't even bring in anything to challenge you through camp, ota's or preseason.

Dr. Lecter
08-30-2014, 05:51 PM
If you are going to say he would not have made this team, it is impossible to have any kind of real discussion.

That is using hyperbole to the point of idiocy. And you are not an idiot.

I also never said that they should not have brought in a veteran so you are making a point that is meaningless in regards to this.

but really - saying he would not have made the team kills any credibility you have on him. He might not pan out, but saying he should not have made the team? Really?

But continue on with your bad ass contrarian self
