EJ Manuel Is Learning How To Be A Pocket Passing NFL QB

No more twist and roll out spinderella moves, EJ's hanging in the pocket and making big throws down the field.

Manuel is getting great protection from his offensive line. He's hardly been touched so far this year, and that's great news for the young QB.

He's not quite there yet, but I see EJ Manuel surprisingly getting in to a comfort zone earlier than expected after watching the game highlights against Chicago and Miami. He's keeping his body parallel to the field, stepping into his throws, and his footwork is getting much better. No more happy feet!

His, "pocket presence," is much improved and he's even calling audibles at the line. I love his poise. EJ never gets rattled.

EJ Manuel could have the strongest throwing arm in the NFL. He throws the ball on a rope with ease, even off balance.

RG3 has proven that NFL read option quarterbacks are as relevant today as the wild cat offense.

I think the OG's are still a problem on the OL.

      Geometric point of order.

If his body is "parallel" to the field, we are in trouble.

So long as he's not on his back I really don't care how EJ throws the ball. Roethlisberger is no work of quarterback art, but he gets the job done.

His mechanics are much better than last year.

We haven't seen a single spin move yet, and that alone says a lot.

I am as happy as anyone about our success, and I knew what you meant.

So...To be "parallel to the field," let's agree to this:

The interior OL is a mess.

One of the more overrated players on the team is Eric Wood. Now he doesn't have much next to him, so that could be impacting his performance, but he hasn't been that good the last two weeks, and he wasn't very good last year either. Not bashing him, I just think he hasn't developed into the player we thought he'd be.

When Andy was here his read was block the guy in front of him or help the schlub on his right. Andy was always fine.

Now his read is block the guy in front of him or help whichever schlub gets blown up first. The fact that the interior line can actually pass block at all is a testament to his talent.
