    Crowd Noise Meter - Can The Ralph Break 136.6 Decibels?

    Seattle is in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the loudest crowd.

    CenturyLink Field was designed to be acoustically friendly on purpose, so give Seattle an asterisk after their world record.

    I wasn't at the game last week against the Fish, but the crowd noise was the loudest I've heard on television since the 1990's.

    I would like to know what the highest decibel level was last week at the Ralph. Sounded like the first play of the game was the loudest, but it would be interesting to know how loud it was after CJ Spiller shot out of a cannon and took it all the way to the house on his miraculous kickoff return.

    I would like to see a, "Top 10 list," every week of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.

    What single play in the NFL last week registered the highest decibel level?

    12th Man of The Year Award?

    Award goes to the, "longest duration of high level noise," not just the single loudest point.

    Winner hosts the Draft?

    I remember years ago, the NFL would give the home team a delay of game penalty if the crowd got too loud.

    Things have changed for the better in that regard.

    Now if they would just allow some fun celebrations.....

      I hate that lame noise meter on the scoreboard. It would be cool if it actually measured the noise, but it's obviously a sham.
      Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

        Growing up I watched a lot of Browns games with my Dad. I remember the Browns getting penalties for snowballs being thrown from the stands at opposing players.

          The one at the Sabres games is hilarious too when it manages to EXPLODEEEE during a Tuesday evening game in January against the Blue Jackets when we are down 4-1.

              Of course all this begs the question, does crowd noise really influence the outcomes of games? While I think our early 90s teams would be able to do fairly well against say the early 2000s Pats, I wonder if crowd noise would really affect Brady, Manning, or any other top flight qb. Sure people will say look at what we did to Elway, but really the problem with that was that Bruce Smith and co were making him their ***** all day anyways. So really is crowd noise important to the game, or is it just more for our benefit?

                The biggest affect crowd noise has is on audibles. That can lead to a turnover.

                But it also can cause false starts & even a bad exchange between the Center & QB.

                    It did lead to a false start penalty last week. I think the crowd noise is especially difficult for teams to cope with early in the season, when they haven't run the Offense over and over for many games.

                          I credit the game as payback for the ref-admitted screw job SEA got in 2006 during the Jerome Bettis Victory Tour.

                            The Seahawks won by 5 tds. I don't see how one could blame that on the refs.
