Defensive line coach Jim Washburn has a way of becoming more than just face in the crowd, mainly by taking an active role in practice -- very active.
It doesn’t take long to observe Washburn’s intensity. He possesses an undying will to make sure every play is run to the best of his players’ abilities.
That takes a certain flare.
Dressed in athletic shorts and a sweat-soaked, long-sleeved t-shirt, Washburn rarely stands still. He stalks the sidelines between trips to the defensive huddle, barking out directions. Seldom does he make it completely off the field before wheeling around and returning for more....
