It turns out the Oakland Raiders were in the market for a free-agent safety after all.
The one they signed Wednesday -- incumbent starter Anthony Dorsett -- furthered the notion that the organization holds the first 18 games of the 2002 season in much higher regard than the sickening ending in Super Bowl XXXVII.
