Re: Byrd out for season.
Jairus Byrd's rough start in New Orleans just got a whole lot worse. Saints coach Sean Payton announced Friday that Byrd will miss the season after tearing his lateral meniscus ligament in practice Thursday. Byrd will be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Byrd earned the most guaranteed money of any free agent during the 2014 offseason, getting $26.3 million guaranteed on a six-year, $54 million deal from the Saints. Things starting going wrong almost right away.
Byrd underwent back surgery in May, was limited for much of training camp and did not look like his usual self on the field this season. A three-time Pro Bowl selection in Buffalo, Byrd was missing tackles and giving up big plays as a member of the Saints. It did not look like he was on the same page with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and fellow safety Kenny Vaccaro.

Re: Byrd out for season.
I will point out that a torn knee ligament has nothing to do with his back or his feet, which is what everyone thought we should dump him over. And that Aaron Williams has yet to complete a season.
But sure, the signing has been a disaster for New Orleans, so take your victory lap.

I have 0 regrets about that nonsigning.

Re: Byrd out for season.
Because of the way the Byrd deal is structured, the Saints are going to be in salary cap hell for the foreseeable future. They already have $160 million in cap dollars committed for 2015, and $140 million committed for 2016. For better or worse, this is the team they have to work with for the next few years.

LOL, the safety they let go has 3 interceptions in four games and a touchdown."You can't be a real country unless you have beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need beer."

I will point out Byrd missed much of TC again this year after signing that huge contract.
Oh & by the way, the Saints had to jettison some valuable role players to sign Byrd & the Saints are now 1-3.
