One of the many disappointing players on the Patriots’ offense has been released.

Kenbrell Thompkins (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8647/kenbrell-thompkins), a wide receiver who showed promise as a rookie last year but hasn’t done much this year, has been waived. Thompkins has just six catches for 53 yards this season after catching 32 passes for 466 yards last year.
The Patriots also promoted linebacker Ja’Gared Davis from the practice squad, meaning he’ll be eligible to play on Sunday night against the Bengals. New England may need Davis for depth on both defense and special teams.

This after Aaron Dobson mouthed off to OC Josh McDaniels and got inactivated.

Weren't these two the top two WRs for the team for awhile? Last year?

The rookies were the Pats only deep threats last year but they were both irrelevant.

This guy wasn't even drafted.

Dobson was.

Belichick made a point of debunking the Dobson/McDaniels rumor btw :

Pretty significant he took the time and effort to actually issue a statement.

You know the saying "the lady doth protest too much, methinks"?

Not in the case of Belichick. He has 25 better things to do with the ten minutes it takes to write a statement. Only ever points out incorrect things, ignores the rest.

And Fletch thought Thompkins was a up and coming star WR

Another failed draft pick by The Hoody. Without Brady that's a 3 win team at best!

Outside of Gronk & Edelman, the Patriots have WR problems.

He wasn't drafted, he was an undrafted free agent. But, your point on New England missing out on drafting WRs is valid. Their last 5 WRs drafted high have all been busts or on their way to being a bust.

And who thinks those two will play all 16 games?

And given our abysmal history with them, two of their wins would be against us

Brandon LaFell put up some numbers last week and to me you never count a veteran out. Yet I'm shocked that Amendola hasn't done anything there as he seemed to be the perfect Wes Welker replacement.

Amendola's poor showing was what I was alluding to.

It's mostly the wideouts and DBs he's sucked at. Usually his linemen and linebackers have been pretty good.

That's what I meant. That Belichick took time out of his day to address an alleged rumor tells me that it wasn't a rumor.
