    Bengals linebacker gives back

When Adrian Ross left Elk Grove High School, he was a 6-foot-2, 185-pound linebacker looking to play Division I football. With no athletic scholarship offers to play elite college football, Ross parlayed his academic prowess into a scholarship to Colorado State, where he majored in animal science.

Ross is still 6-2, but he carries 256 pounds on his frame as an NFL linebacker with the Cincinnati Bengals. He's started 22 of 75 games and shown versatility as a special-teams player and middle and outside linebacker. With a new coaching staff, Ross will battle for a starting spot while continuing to contribute on special teams.

The five-year NFL veteran recently held "Saturate the Community" from June 19 to 21 in Sacramento. Teammates Corey Dillon, Armegis Spearman and T.J. Houshmanzadeh were in town, as were Raiders receiver Jerry Porter and Pittsburgh Steeler Joey Porter.

The weekend featured a flag football tournament at Franklin High, autographs and a celebrity basketball game against the Sacramento Police and Sheriffs departments.
