Good news. Although it's kind of sad that Urbik feels like a huge upgrade.

Urbick played very well 2 years ago. Huge step back last year but I feel like he has some talent.

Richardson was GOD AWFUL so not sure why this took so long!

Urbik is good enough that when he gets help from the C he's good. Andy was always fine by himself so Wood was free to help Urbik (or whoever was plugged in at RG). Once Wood had two stiffs to babysit Urbik was exposed.

That's even worse this season. Urbik might be an upgrade, but only too last season's Urbik (still a decent jump).

looks like we're looking to throw the ball a lot vs. the jets' weakest link on their D. The pass D.

Look for our TE's to have a big day . The jets have trouble vs. TE's just like us.

This is the right move and does not surprise me.

Should have happened sooner.

The fans that wanted the Buffalo Bills to free Kraig Urbik from the shackles of the bench can now feel vindicated. As of Wednesday, Urbik ran with the first-team offense at left guard for the first time this season.

Urbik, 29, started at right guard for the Bills from 2011 through 2013. He was battling with a bevy of options for the starting job at right guard before head coach Doug Marrone ultimately decided to move former right tackle Erik Pears inside.

With his move to the starting lineup, Urbik takes the place of rookie fifth-round selection Cyril Richardson. Richardson started the past four games but has largely been inefficient since taking over for the injured Chris Williams.

Head coach Doug Marrone will address the media after practice.

Still not sure about Orton throwing more. Thus far, he fumbles every 42 drop backs, throws INTs every 26 snaps.

What he has shown is that when you need a clutch drive, he delivers. That is consistent with the game manager label he has throughout his career, probably a little underrated. You can ask him make 3rd down conversions, throw a deep ball on 1st downs to keep defense honest with respect to the run.

I thought after all the rumours and false reports, Askew was finally going to be a Bill.

Don't care about what he did in the past. Lets look at who we are facing this sunday. The jets' strength is in the front 7. Their db's are their weakest link. With Bryce Brown being an unkown playing in his first game, I don't like our chances of running the ball well. Not saying we shouldn't , but I'm not sure if we can.

Keep Orton protected and let him try to beat their db's. Not saying Urbik is anything great but he's definitely better at pass protecting than Richardson.

Not saying either that that's Marrone's thinking in playing Urbik, but it's not far fetched to think Bills will want to throw vs. their db's.

I think under normal circumstances you are dead on, but given that the Bills top two backs are out and the Jets d-line is excellent versus the run, well, bombs away . . .

I think you may under-estimate Rex a bit. He and Pettine in the past were able to confuse the mighties like Brady etc. Mind you when I say confuse, it's not just coverage. We got first hand experience last year how Pettine was able to confuse opponents' blocking schemes and got people free path to QB.

Road game or not, I think the Bills have better talent than the Jets right now. To me the key is mistake free game, no fumbles, INTs, minimize sacks. If we can do that, the game may be ugly to watch, but I'm almost certain we win this Sunday. Having Orton stand back there throwing 40+ times is just asking for trouble. Does anyone believe with Urbik at LG makes us stopping Jets D line?

All 3 games Orton started the Bills trailed out of gate, at the half, through 3rd quarter. The biggest reason is turnovers. You can't rely on those kind of stats to win games.

So are all the 2014 o-line draftees wasted picks?

They can't all look good from day1 like Cordy, Andy and Erik

Seantrel looks pretty good. So far the rest look pretty rough though.

It will be interesting to watch Urbik play next to Cordy Glenn on the left side.

Urbik has played mainly on the right side for years next to Chris Hairston, and rarely filled in at left guard.

Cordy Glenn had, "communication issues," with rookie Cyril Richardson playing next to him.

Kraig Urbik is 100% healthy now. He had a lot of nagging injuries, and played through them in 2013 for all 16 games.

I don't think Urbik was in Marrone's dog house. I think Marrone knew the guy needed a good rest.

A healthy Kraig Urbik playing next to Cordy Glenn and Eric Wood could be the key to fixing the Bills offensive line.

Let us pray.

I think you mean he has previously played at right guard next to Pears, as Hairston has barely played the past two seasons.
