the o line coach. I hand wring as much as the next guy over Hackett but in order for Hackett's ******ed run directly into the center of the o-line game plan to work, the o-line needs to get a push and open holes. They cant do that and Orton is getting sacked as if Drew Bledsoe was still under center.

Our guards suck and Wood is not much better. I don't know how some of you expect Morris to turn those turds into studs. Hackett in a runaway is our worst coarch.

Well, Orton is very Bledsoe like with his lack of mobility.

The good news is that also like Bledsoe, Orton has a good arm & can deliver the ball when given time to do so.

By coaching them up would be my first thought. Good coaches figure out how to utilize their players no matter their deficiencies. Morris has figured out anything except how to make them suck more.

Why is Marrone even a nominee?

That is an absurd statement. No matter their deficiencies lol? If a player sucks he sucks. A coach should be able to cover for 1 bad player on his ol. 60% of the OL range from average to not belonging on the field. One of the others is a rookie. I don't blame the coach for that. You have to give him at least a little to work with.

Probably because of his penchant for not playing players he should play like Mike Williams & Urbik.

Mike Williams is debatable. As for Urbik, while I'm glad he's in, I'm going to defer to Marrone on that one... he must have seen something more from Richardson in camp and practices that he felt better about than what he saw from Urbik. That doesn't make him a bad coach... that makes him willing to try a guy who had shown a spark.

Has Corey Glenn gotten better or worse under Pat Morris? Has Eric Wood? Has he made our best OL better or worse? Has he made our worst OL better or worse? Is his blocking scheme effective?

It's a difficult choice. I don't know if Hackett is implementing a generally ultra-conservative game plan because that is what he wants to do or that is what Marrone wants. Marrone seems bullheaded about personnel. Still, I think the o-line is the major problem and it seems to me the level of ineptitude has to point beyond mere player inadequacy. So, on balance, I vote for Pat Morris.

Notice who isn't being considered: the one-time whipping boy Crossman and Schwartz.

Marrone by far. bills are winning in spite of him. Way too conservative for the new nfl

Marone says every week there are things they need to get better at. He should stop saying that since they're 5-3.

This isnt a "what do we need to get better a"t thread?

You want to give a "worst coach award" to a coach on a winning team?

Team game.

Team wins.

Team loses.

Stupid thread.

Can't Hackett, EJ's pick against Houston and poor OL play all season long have been problems contributed significantly to all three losses, but Hackett is one of the worst offensive gamers we've had in a while.

Position coaches have more to say about who lines up than I think you are giving them responsibility for. Mike Williams could be a result of many factors, being new this season, but I certainly don't think Richardson, Chris Williams and Pears catapulted over the top of Urbik this off-season under Pat Morris as coach last season when two years ago he was actually decent.
