Report: Sammy Watkins good to go for Sunday

The 5-3 Bills are heading for a matchup with the 5-3 Chiefs this Sunday in a game that will enhance the winner’s chances of making the playoffs in a muddled AFC race.


It’s the kind of game that you want to play with as many of your best players as you possibly can, which made wide receiver Sammy Watkins’s departure from Wednesday’s practice with a groin problem a pretty big concern for the Bills. Watkins has been listed on the injury report with the injury for a few weeks, but had practiced and played without incident until things went the other way on Wednesday.



Happily for the Bills, it doesn’t look like they’ll have to face Kansas City without the help of their rookie sensation. The Associated Press reports that evaluations after practice turned up no serious trouble and Watkins was deemed “fine and ready to go” for Sunday’s game.

a groin injury doesn't seem like something you'd want to rush. but they do need him, so it's good to have him ready to go. i think the game's success relies on woods and watkins having big games.

Very common football injury and it's called a long needle with Cortisone.

Chances are he'll be getting some outpatient surgery after the season.

He's going to have a big game. I don't think the chiefs can move the ball on us. This may be a rout in the bills favor barring any boneheadedness.

he did not practice today I really hope we do not put him out there like the Lions did Megatron as a decoy.

If he is not ready let him sit and hopefully he is full go for Phins game.

Yeah, 'no practice' doesn't exactly scream 'good to go' to me. Once again, hopefully, they were being over cautious. We'll see if he hits the field at all tomorrow.

Sammy Watkins misses practice again Friday


Sammy Watkins (groin) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.

We don't know what to believe here. Reports Wednesday and Thursday suggested Watkins was dealing with a relatively minor injury. And it's possible that's the case. We also wouldn't put it past coach Doug Marrone to hold Watkins out of practice just so he can think he's gaining an advantage. Missing practice on a Friday is a concern, however. We'll have plenty of updates into the weekend.

I think "good to go" would mean no serious issues with it, but if it's even a little sore they might as well just rest him during practice.

if hes not good to go then i think its good that they leak hes good to go to force them to prepare like he was good to go. if he really is good to go then i dont think its good that they say hes good to go to force them to prepare for mike williams. so whether its good or not good to say hes good to go depends on how good his good really is. and of course what the definition of is is

marrone has used that 'didnt practice so doesnt play' rationale in the past but i think theyll break that rule for sammy
