The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Carson Palmer to a three-year extension that keeps the two-time Pro Bowler under contract through 2017, the team announced Friday.

Contract terms were not disclosed by the Cardinals, but sources confirmed to ESPN that the deal is worth $50 million in total. It is guaranteed through 2015 and includes a guaranteed $20.5 million during that span, a source said. The average salary range is between $15.9 million and $16.6 million.
Palmer, who was due to enter free agency after this year, was slated to earn $9 million this season.

Might be relevant benchmark for re-signing Orton.

maybe historically, but they have been to a Super Bowl in the last decade and currently own the best record in the league and won 10 games last year

yea, he's injured. doesn't change the fact that team is 8-1 and will likely have home field in the NFC. and it still doesn't change the fact they won 10 games last year. right now, the cardinals are a better run organization than our team and that's not disputable

What Palmer got hurt? Who would have figured that would happen? He was hurt for 3 of the Card 8 wins this year. It seems he's always hurt. Yes the Cards have a great record so far this year, but, this was a stupid signing before Palmer was hurt. And now we see why.

Brees 20 mill a year 40 guaranteed. Peyton 19 mill per year. 58 guaranteed Brady 14 per year 33m guaranteed


To pay Palmer close to Brees and Manning and more than Brady is just plain ******ed. Cards get what they deserved.

If the Bills pay Orton anywhere near this I'd flip.
