    Hall earns his position on Lions' defensive line

    Bypassed in 2000 draft, he worked hard to become starter
    ALLEN PARK -- There are many ways that indicate how a player's stature is rising, and James Hall meets the standard in most of them.

    Increased playing time, more production, a higher salary -- they all point to strides Hall has made in three seasons with the Lions.

    Hall made the team as an undrafted rookie in 2000 and had to scrape for playing time. To indicate how his value to the team has grown, last season Hall started 14 games at right defensive end.
