    Did The Bills Find Their Running Game Last Week?

    Boobie Dixon had 9 carries for 62 yards against the Chiefs.

    Brown had 7 carries for 35 yards.

    Fred only had 3 carries for 10 yards.

    19 runs, 107 yards, almost 6 yards per carry on average.

    Stats look great, but are they for real?

    One would think that the Bills coaching staff would have a little more confidence in their run game on 4th and short.

    Maybe they will now.

    We'll have a better idea after tomorrow...may have just been an anomaly, or result of KC's defensive plan against the run.

      I love how Dixon runs for the first 5 yards. I do not love how after that he thinks he is Barry Sanders.

        Its amazing what can happen when you put a little imagination into your running game.

        WGR has some good All-22 footage.

        Western New York’s number one source for daily sports talk and play-by-play as the flagship station of the Bills and Sabres. Stream, read and download WGR 550 AM from any device on Audacy

        Note the first screen shot posted.

        2 DT's and the 2 LBs are lined up stacked behind them...(ok...a little shaded either way, but it really doesn't matter).

        What DOES matter is that you have a 4 on 3 mismatch in the middle, 3 guys to block 4.

        The Jets used that formation for a great deal of the game.

        And yet...Hackett kept deciding to run the ball between the guards..right into the mismatch.

        What the Bills did last Sunday is what many were begging Hackett to do for the entire season.

        Go off tackle once in a while,
        get some lineman out in space in front of a RB,
        use a little misdirection at times.
        let your Oline have a little fun.

        The 4 of 5 starting Olinemen that were here under Gailey didn't suddenly forget how to run block;
        Spiller didn't suddenly become a bad RB;
        Pat Morris didn't suddenly become a bad Oline coach;

        It isn't easy to do any of those things when a D knows exactly what's coming and is sitting there waiting.
        It doesn't matter what Hackett is "trying to do", it matters when the D knows what he is trying to do.

        I'm glad somene finally got to him and/or Marrone. Coaches often tell players to check their egos at the door. Sometimes coaches ahve to take their own advice.

          Seems like teams these days can run for 160 yards one week and 40 yards the next...
