    Bills Stats update

    Buffalo team defense - #4

    Buffalo team offense - #24

    Take-away/Give-away - #4 (+8)

    Preston Brown
leads the Bills in tackles. He is tied for 18th in combined (total+assists) tackles. I think he may quietly be the best draft pick this year. Shhh. Don't tell Sammy.

Mario Williams with 12 sacks. NFL leader is still Justin Houston with 13. Team is #1 and next team is eight back.

Leodis McKelvin tied for 3rd in the NFL with 4 INTs. Team is tied for #5 with 13 total INTs. Leader (SF) has 16.

Kyle Orton with a 96.2 QB rating (#9 in the NFL). He has 12 TD and 3 INTs.

While he's had some recent struggles I still think the best pick from the past draft was Henderson by a wide margin in terms of early returns.

No way. Brown by far, so far. Yes, better than Sammy.

Just imagine. Bradham Kiko Brown as the Bills LB corps.

I mean in terms of on the field production and value for the pick.

He's a 7th Round selection that been basically a Day 1 starter at RT and in many games was our best OL. He held down Cameron Wake most recently and is one of our best run blockers. With everybody else on the line either sucking (I'm talking to you Urbik and Pears) or regressing (Now I'm talking to Glenn and Wood) Henderson has been a very positive piece.

Why Brown exactly? Because his tackle numbers are high?

Don't get me wrong, I like Brown I think he's going to be a long time starter for us but there is no way I'm buying him as a betters selection than Henderson.

To be fair both have their flaws still, Brown relies too much on athleticism and lacks discipline. Henderson will hip bend too much and can get walked back when he gets onto his heels. However you just don't see 7th Round picks come in on Day 1 and basically lock down a starting OT spot in the NFL.

I keep forgetting Henderson was a 7th round pick. I guess I can't argue with you there.

I say Brown because he's playing like Kiko played last year. Maybe not quite as good in coverage as Kiko, but he's a ball magnet.

Geez, what a dilemma. Who's our best draft pick?

Our first round receiver that forces opposing defenses to gameplan specifically for him?
Our third round LBer that leads the team in tackles?
Our seventh round RT that's started almost from Day 1?

Doesn't really matter, though, considering how obvious it is that Whaley sucks and this organization needs clean sweep out the door from the top down, does it?

                      Re: Bills Stats update

Orton has gone 4 games without an INT. Certainly hasn't played perfectly but not turning the football over is something I'm not used to from Bills QB's.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                      It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Cameron Wake hasn't been Cameron Wake this season.

I'll man up and admit to being wrong on that one. I thought the loss of Kiko, the learning curve on the new system and Schwartz not being as blitz- happy as Pettine would hurt the defense.

Fortunately it didn't happen that way.
