    Marty Mornhinweg

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ty-mornhinweg/'

In the concurrently running RGIII thread, wagon suggested the Bills upgrade their OC with Jay Gruden, should he be fired in Washington.

What about Marty Mornhinweg? Is he really as good as folks have suggested in the past? Or was he just a benefactor/victim of the players he had?

Should he be available, would he be a Jim Schwartz-type upgrade at OC in Buffalo?

I don't think Marty would be a Schwartz type upgrade, but he would be MUCH better than Hackett.

The thing is, outside a couple of guards, the Bills have talent. A decent enough QB for the short term. Can Mornhinweg call a better game plan? Yes. Some sort of an upgrade.

Mornhinweg is one of the better OCs in the league, and he very well could be let go if they clean house. But would he be a fit with Marrone? I get the impression Marrone has a pretty heavy influence on in-game play calling.

I like Marty and in developing (or trying to develop) Geno I thought he had the right idea, although in the end given the lack of skill players he probably did put too much on Geno's plate, as I think he has himself acknowledged.
i loved his gameplan vs the Finns, though in the second half when Miami started stacking the box I couldn't understand why he didn't throw more (unless he was 100% sure that Geno would be murdered). As.Gruden kept saying his best WR was split wide against a corner who was a street guy with no help up top because Miami was selling out to stop Ivory.
          Why not take a shot?
The problem with OC upgrades however is that I suspect Hackett and Marrone are the same guy. They have been together for five years. Who knows, maybe the philosophy we have seen and learned to loath is more Doug than Nate.
So maybe things don't improve until we have a HC upgrade as well.

I really do not like Mornhinwheg, strikes me as fading old guard OC that time has passed and everyone keeps hoping will shine. He's the Wannstedt of OC's.

I want Marrone out of here with Hackett though

I'd rather have Lane Kiffin, but that ain't happenin'.

He's a lot better than Hackett, but really, who isn't?

                    PS...No, thank you.
