Orchard Park Native Brian Aryault to Join Bills Front Office?

In Buffalo, as the calm prepares to yield to a potential storm, a name to watch whenever the dust finally settles is Brian Ayrault.

It would be for Jim Overdorfs' old job but Aryault is denying the report.

You know... so much of what's going to transpire in the coming days/weeks/months with regards to this franchise is going to be "business related"--as it should be. But that won't stop the majority of posters here, on other message boards, and in the comment sections of TBN from forming opinions based on name recognition alone.

"Ernie Acorsi... I've heard of him!"

"Brian Aryault? I have not heard of him! Doom!"

The Buffalo Bills are a business. Terry and Kim Pegula are businessmen.

This "process" needs to start with them creating an environment that they feel is conducive to the short and long term financial success of the Buffalo Bills football operations. How far down the ladder that reach extends is not yet determined: do they want to hand pick offensive and defensive coaches? Or empower a "president of operations" to select a GM?

I can only relate this process to my experiences... but I have been part of several mergers--be it from acquisitions or consolidations. It is not a smooth, quick process. Russ is a very high ranking member of this organization, which means he likely has people reporting to him... everyone from assistants to middle managers. You can't just "fire Russ" without first determining what to do with the management structure that will be left in the wake of his departure. So many of the moves that come in the next 6 months are going to (wrongly) be viewed by fans soley with regards to how it impacts the product on the field... things like "Polian's last season in Indy they were 2-14, we don't want him here, he's old, the game has passed him by."

But the reality of the situation is... every move that Kim and Terry make in the next year or so is going to have NOTHING to do with the product on the field. They need to get the top of the organizational structure sorted out before they worry about, for instance, finding a QB... for now, that duty falls to Whaley.

Per Howard Simon and WGR, Aryault just said he's not taking the job.
