Wasting resources on a garbage QB....

The thing that scares me the most is that desperation for a QB is going to cause this FO to use our limited resources unwisely.

We already lack draft picks, so trading more is extremely risky, especially with holes on the OL and at RB.

We have a lot of cap space, but we need to re-sign or replace Spikes and Hughes, plus Jackson, Spiller and Dareus are all FA's after 2016.

Clearly, no team is perfect and all teams have some holes. But my concern is wasting resources on a QB that isn't any better than what we have while also creating new holes (or failing to fill holes) in other places. Clearly, if there is a franchise QB out there, I'd rather have him than cap space or Jerry Hughes. I just don't think that guy is available to us right now and I don't want to see us waste limited resources to not improve.

So you're content with EJ Manuel and Jeff Tuel

No, I'm not content. I'm saying that our need for a QB doesn't make one available.

Going into the season with Manuel and Tuel is less bad than eating Cutler's cap hit or trading picks for someone else's back-up to end up with very similar results on the field.

I wouldn't worry. There's no QB available that any GM is going to waste resources on.

Agreed. I'm not sure about Hughes, since he ran out of gas the last several games and didn't have the impact like early in the season. Our other 3 DL starters are far more talented. Someone will overpay.

I'd trade a future pick for a guy like Glennon of Tampa Bay, who beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh early, then was benched by the horrid Lovie Smith so that he could lose out the year. Glennon has a big arm and enough movement. He, Manuel and one other pickup could go to camp.

Get the OL fixed. Without a running game, we will never win.

I would do backflips if they got Cutler. As long as they threw in a 1st or 2nd round pick too.

I think he's saying they will freely engage in bidding wars driving up the price of guys who won't be worth the cap hit when all is said and done. Sounds plausible if not likely.

Nothing else matters until we find a QB, at all.

1st thing I do is call the Rams and ask what they want for Sam Bradford.. Yes id rather have Sam Bradford as my starting QB than Manuel..

So would I, if all things were equal. But they're not. We already have EJ. We lack draft picks as it is. If we give up more to get Bradford, we won't be able to fix the OL or do something about the RB situation. And let's face it: Bradford is flawed too. He's not Brady, Manning or even Rothlisberger.

I just don't see how it's worth giving that up to get another flawed QB.

So who are you gonna have for the other at least 10 games of the season when Bradford breaks his glass vagina as per usual?

That might be true, but like OP said, having a need for a QB does not make one available.

There's no point in wasting money/draft picks on a QB if we're not upgrading from what we have. He's right.

I'm all for giving up future picks to upgrade at QB somehow this year, because that's all that matters right now. Winning now, with this defense, in this playoff drought. Do what it takes to get someone that gets us there.
