Don't they have to wait until Denver is eliminated before they can talk to Gase?

If so, it could be a month.

Denver has a bye. So this weekend or after they are eliminated, which is likely the following weekend.

Gase can interview:

"The teams are moving just as quickly to fill those vacancies, with several interviews already set up for this week. Many of the interviews involve coaches whose teams have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. NFL rules state that those coaches — on the Patriots, Broncos, Seahawks, and Packers — can interview through Saturday, and then cannot interview again until their team is eliminated from the playoffs."

Thank you, I was unaware he could interview while their teams had a bye week.

Good lord. He's just a kid. 36. Worked for Maranelli and Matt Millen in Detroit. Married to Joe Vitts daughter. Frank Reich has more experience imo.

Gase will have interviewed with almost every team who has a vacancy.

He's probably the hottest name out there right now. Love bringing him in for an interview.

Pass.

If they seriously are looking at somebody with a limited resume they might as well just bring in Frank Reich.

Gase is from the Sid Gillman Coaching Tree (as is Marinelli). If you don't know who that is you need to look it up.

Pretty sure Peyton is making Gase look like a genius...

The Bills have had more than enough first-time HCs over the past decade+. Let's try something different!

How does he connect to Gillman? Gillman stopped coaching 4 years before Gase was even born.

I don't know man. I don't buy into those tress too much. For every Bill Walsh and Mike Holmgreen you get a Ray Rhodes, a Dennis Green, a Mike Tice, and a Mike Mularkey. Don' t get me wrong, there isa great lineage of coaching to follow Gillman, and he may pan out to be a fine assistant some day, but there is no guarantee he will ever be a good HC.

I suppose he needs a chance somewhere.

Oh I agree, it doesn't guarantee anything.

I'm leery of a Peyton OC.

The more I read of him the more he grows on me. I'd bite hook line and sinker if he wasn't so wet behind the ears.

As well you should be, Peyton is the OC and Gase brings him his gatorade and towels.

Peyton and every great QB has made their OCs look like geniuses. Get me a QB and our coach will look like a genuis too.

I think they used to prevent any interviews of coordinators while their teams were still playing, but IIRC they changed that rule a few years back.

Right. An OC of a HOF QB is going to look brighter than he may really be. Same can be said of Quinn. Was it him or the Seattle defensive personnel that made success there?

I heard that Gase is required to apply Icy Hot to Mannings junk after each victory.

That tree is a real stretch.

Bill Walsh was a coordinator for Paul Brown.

It was in Cincinnati that the WCO offense was designed.
