    Polian's words-more dirt on EJ's career grave?

Polian said he had spoken with Bills owner Terry Pegula during the holidays about returning to the club in a "mentoring/advisory" role on the assumption that Doug Marrone would still be the head coach and quarterback Kyle Orton would still be on the roster.

"Then, the quarterback goes away and the coach disappears," Polian said, referring to Orton's decision to retire on Dec. 29 and Marrone's decision on Wednesday to exercise a clause that allowed him to vacate his contract with one year left.

It doesn't take much reading between the lines to see that Polian doesn't view EJ as a viable starter.

Re: Polian's words-more dirt on EJ's career grave?

Bill Polian said that Doug Marrone should be a Coach of The Year candidate, and apparently made up his mind about the Bills front office position after speaking to Marrone.

Bill Polian was actually intrigued at the thought of Kyle Orton and Doug Marrone turning the offense around in 2015.

Once Orton and Marrone turtled, so did Polian.

      Thank God.

The game has passed Polian. Who cares what he thinks? The only proof you need to know that Polian is off his rocker is that he thinks his son could be a viable GM.

i think the translation of that article is simple. from polian perspective

keep everyone in place. if they fail i'm only the "figure head"

start things new. if they fail its a knock on polians legacy

**** polian hes an old man we dont need

didnt we learn already when we brought in OLD bastards MARV and the old boys club?

If he wanted to keep Marrone, then I'm glad he didn't come here. What the heck was he going to do anyway, sit and collect a big check for doing nothing?

Polian's comments are simple, he wanted a cush job where all he could do is oversee things and make easy decisions. Yet he didn't want to be put in a position to make tough decisions like what to do at HC/QB.

Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston are going to make 2 GMs and Head Coaches either look like geniuses or bums.

Re: Polian's words-more dirt on EJ's career grave?

I think the pegulas asked for polians help and polian wAnted his son to be part of package. That was a nonstarter as we saw in some articles. So he is using the marrone/orton to gracefully bow out

does it really make sense that a GM who built 3 good to great teams thought so highly of marrone that he didn't want to pick his own coach or his own QB? Both orton and marrone were mildly competent at times. They won games because of d and st. No way one of the best gm's was influenced by these two idiots.

                  Just my opinion

Orton and Marrone were positives in Polians' eyes. Good God.

Glad that never happened. The game has obviously passed him by.

Polian is no judge of QBs. He's only drafted 1 good QB, Manning, and that was a no-brainer.

Yes. We're much better off with a guy like Whaley, who drafted Hall of Famer EJ Manuel.

                          Come on.
Does anyone really think Kyle Orton had anything to do with this?
He was atrocious down the stretch.

Polian is doing what everyone does when they don't want to re-engage after a very successful career, which is stating plausible reasons for not taking the job so as to not burn bridges or damage legacy.

It would have been an easy gig for him, with almost no downside, then it turned into a find a coach job, which has huge downside and takes a lot of work and convincing.

Orton and Polian? No chance in hell.

Kerry Collins was a solid QB and did pretty well with an expansion team.
